Hi Obra --- nice to have you back. I want to hear the truth from a newbie living in Jamaica....a column with the pro's and one with the con's. Sometimes people go there to live and you've heard they came back to states but they never talk about their experiences...it's like they've lived their "DREAM" and don't go back to Jamaica or discuss it....they just vanish from the boards. Let us hear from you!

You really should write your thoughts down in a journal, even if you choose not to share it. Even when you return, there can only be one first time like this, so be sure not to loose it. Write the good the bad and the ugly. For yourself, if for no one else.

Hi Schultz its good to be back, kind of sort of. I feel so guilty that I am "home" with the family but I am counting the days till I return "home". I can not say I have lived my dream I have to in all honesty say I have BEGUN to LIVE MY DREAM. It is far from over. And you will hear from me.

Marilyn I am a journal er from long long time, I have loads of finished and new ones that family, friends and coworkers have given me, so I never have to buy them. That said I journaled daily at times and weekly at times while traveling my roads of life this past 6 months. I like what you said (quote from Marilyn) "Even when you return, there can only be one first time like this" This actually bought tears to my eyes,so true, so very true, and sad in a way. But I can not wait to start chapter 2.

The road was sweet, it was wonderful, it was enlightening, it was rough, it was humbling, it was a true lesson, and an endeavor to seek out who Orbra really is.

Being on my own without family and friends and then eventually being blessed in finding an extended and blended base of support in the place I love, was a humbling experience, one that I would like to one day share, and in a way I feel that I owe that to some of you for the encouragement and information and support given to me by you guys, so soon come.

I will be waiting on the story sharing days ... since I never get to link up with you for a proper sit down and gab session - I will hope to be able to read about your experiences.

I agree with Schultz ... often we are along for the anticipation ride pre-trip or pre-visit .... and then are just left hanging ~

That is GREAT, I am so glad to hear that you have already put your thoughts down.

Since I know your story (pretty much), what I would love to hear you share at some point are two things

1. Things that you learned about life (real) in Jamaica in general

and 2. How it worked being an African-American (tourist) lady, staying long term.

These are insights I think we could all gain from.
