Thunder and lightening....

I love storms, not hurricanes, but thunder and lightening storms.

The crashing and power of a storm is very exciting to me.

Until this happened.

It's been confirmed now that the one and only coconut tree in my yard, which up to just over a week ago, was big, green and producing fruit,always had plenty of coconuts on it, all year round,was struck by lightening and in maybe 9 days it now looks like this.

Guess I'll have to beg jelly from my neighbors now.

My neighbor at Hide Awhile lost several flat screen TV's and some other electronics, so guess were lucky, but jellies are one of my favorites.

Bummer about the tree. I hate lightening after having it follow me twice in a year in two separate houses! They actually say some people are more likely to attract it or something. One guy has been struck multiple times and still lives, although not without problems!

Just last week I had a very close strike, and last summer I thought I was a goner when I was running from an estate sale house to my car and it was so close the hair on the back of my neck and arms stood up. mi frighten bad...

yeah and I always unplug all of my tv's computers stereos and phones. And I don't turn the water on. The water line was one of my two strikes. I had just finished pumping water from a hand pump in my kitchen when I lived in my little log cabin on a lake. I barely let go of the pump when I saw the bolt go straight into the ground in front of me and the fire shot out of the pump.

Anyway, stay safe, and under cover Leanne! I saw strikes like that in Little Bay at Sam's too, right there on the seaside like you are.

I have always felt like TSmall did...


The rumble of thunder always makes me smile...


But those lightening stories are FRIGHTENING Nan!


Hope to never have any experiences like that!

same thing happened to a coconut tree in my yard too.....our first to produce fruits. first year, i shared in the bounty....next year it was dead

[/quote It was too far from the fruit trees. Young Coconut trees attract lightning, because it has a very upright spike and the center, but if low boughs was lopped and removed it may have survived without any evidence of being hit. cocunuts get hit on a daily basis and not hurt..
It probably will survive though since the heart leaves seem to have life.

Dig around the roots and get some liquid fertilizer or wqter soluble fertilzer into it and see if it won't survive.
