right - I should never say "never" ...cuz IF I found myself in either place ~ I would love it ... cuz I too am a 'JAMAICA-HOLIC" ... thru n thru ~

it is just that for now ~ we do not spend time there.
everyone loves their own thing ... it is just that I have no experience with the more 'urban side' of Jamaica ~ so I could not offer any thoughts or ideas to this person.

Whoooooooooooo girl Queen B did...she took one look at it and said IT'S A CITY I HATE IT.
I am a Negril lover thru and thru for many reasons . However, I spent 3 months in Montego Bay....hated it! I spent 3 months in Ochi....Loved it.
When I have friends that go to Jamaica but dont want to do Negril, I always recommend Ochi over Montego Bay. The one thing that I missed when I was in Ochi was Negrils beach.

I got family in Ochee too Nylah and thats my big draw.

technically I havent been to Negril yet but maybe this year I'll make my way out there. But there is just too much ppl and too much going on for the place to be appealing to me.
But for others that is exactly the draw.
If I want a big city trip I go to <span style="font-weight: bold">New York </span>or <span style="font-weight: bold">London or Toronto </span>not anywhere in JA......

I have never been to a place in Jamaica that I did not like but I am a city girl so I love the big cities - Mobay and Kingston are my favs of course. My heart is in Mobay so that would be my choice always as most of my friends and family are there and I am just more familiar with the place. Probably most of us like to go where we are comfortable, know the place, have friends. It is really all about comfort, love and a safe haven. That is where we all want to be.
thanks for the input ... this couple and their friends picked an A/I near the Runaway Bay area ... which should be fine for them. They can take in both Ochi and Montego Bay if they want to.

They were last time in Negril at Crystal Waters ... and she moaned that they 'had nothing to do' ... too far away from 'everything' ....
such a pity ~
I have told her a thousand times ... park back in that area as your 'home base' and link up with my BimBim ... he would proudly show you Beautious Jamaica in all her glory!! BUT - that would not include any city action of Montego Bay nor Ochi ~

negril is NOT new york, london or toronto it's not even as busy as ocho rios and no where as busy as kingston or mobay
it's easy to find a quiet spot with no one around in negril and it's "the capital of casual" - where else in jamaica can you spend the entire day (24 hours) in your swim suit and eat and drink at restaurants - a short ride 15 minutes and you're in the country, a longer ride 30 minutes you're in the deep country
ROOTS you have your people in ochie - that's the draw to you - most people are drawn to the first part of jamaica they visited - for years - i couldn't leave montego bay and i still love it although most "tourists" hate that place and this year i'm planning to set down in kingston - it's all good - it's all an adventure - it's all jamaica

</div></div>if they thought they had nothing to do last time wait until they spend some time in runaway bay - the abraco property was very nice - even had a jamaican village set up inside the resort but taxi to ochie or mobay is not cheap
they will be able to enjoy the nude beach there tho'
