Rose Hall Resort in MoBay

Coworkers of mine are staying at Rose Hall Resort and wanted to know what I thought about it and if there was anything to tell them about the place or the surroundings.

I have no current info about anything in Montego Bay and thought I would ask on here.

It's not right in Montego Bay proper, but it's right across the street from the Rose Hall great house and only a short drive or cab ride away from town. Nice property w/decent beach and very nice golf course. Not as fancy as the Ritz but nice enough that I've stayed here several times. They also have a very nice pool w/water slide, lazy river and I think a swim up bar.

Yep, lovely well kept hotel. Luxurious, but a step or two down from the Ritz Carlton. Remodeled and upgraded a couple years ago. Great staff, good food.

First time I was in Jamaica, saw Frankie Paul concert at Rose Hall auditorium, outside. Was great! (don't think it was on the hotel grounds, cos never been there).

Golf, more golf, some golf after that - then spa - then more golf. If they don't venture off the property and the immediate environs, that's about it.

and they probably won't be encouraged to leave the resort unless they book an expensive tour through the resort

i wish folks would do more research BEFORE they book

I haven't found them to be pushy about the tours. Of course they have a tour desk and will book if requested. But they are not pushy like some resorts.

And they are not rude and condesending to local Jamaicans. As long as they can give the name of the guest, they can enter the property. That's been my personal experience.

Seveen, if you want to give them the name of someone to take them aound, it shouldn't be a problem for them.

not sure that will happen to them- but that's the norm - especially for white people - not sure if the proposed guests are white or not - just an observation

and they know you're jamaican so different treatment - if i have a guest - they think it's renta - 'cause i have a different &quot;accent&quot;

i don't think the tour people will be pushy but they will <span style="font-style: italic">imply</span> don't go outside alone

nope - noone in particular to take them out

The guard at the gate has no idea what the guests look like...unless they stop and chat with him. I never did. My brother's always came to visit, they gave my name, and as long as my name is on the list, they were granted entry.

I thought about mentioning this when I posted my previous reply. When I am in Jamaica, everyone I meet considers me a tourist. Actually when I am in America, no one ever assumes I am Jamaican. So, I received the same treatment as you would.

Rosehall is a member of the luxury resorts hotels. Everything is understated, I doubt they would ever push anything. But yes, they would never encourage guests to go wandering off on their own.

Long story short my coworkers are staying there for free with travel &quot;points&quot; so they are very excited that it is costing them $0. I think they have enough sense to get off the property so they will be fine.
