Catcha or BarBBarn?

I'm FINALLY going to spend more than an hour in Negril at the end of November.

I will be travelling with my daughter who is in her 20s so would like it to be kinda lively, but not too lively! And security is paramount.

I've read great reviews on here about both Catcha and BarBB. But if you had to choose one, which would it be and why?

I think the major difference is Catcha cliffside and Bar B Barn is beachside..

other than that, I've never stayed at either

i'd choose Catcha...it's very nice. why? well i just prefer cliff life. Catcha is handy to Rick's Cafe...so you can go check out the sunset festivities over there...everyone should do that at least once.

I've stayed at both; if the choice were up to <span style="font-weight: bold">me</span>, I'd go back to Catcha in a heartbeat...their rooms are much nicer than BBB... but I think a 20 y.o. would prefer the runnings on the beach....

generally speaking the beach area is more lively than the cliffs so really it mostly depends upon which vibes u want more.

Catcha is inDEED beautiful, and the cliffs in general are more serene and quiet, ppl love it up there for that serenity and peacefulness.

as far as the property itself, BBB is not as 'pretty', but it's in a <span style="font-style: italic">boss</span> location, where you have more options. there u could either do stuff, or just chill on the beach if you prefer (although it's not 'as' peaceful and quiet as the cliffs, cause you'll hear some music an such from neighboring beach bars &amp; music venues). also has great food, and the ppl who run it are very kind &amp; welcoming.

The beach is within easy walking distance of Catcha right? We could get the best of both worlds no?

nah, Catcha is a only short taxi ride from beach, but not easy walking distance (unless you REAL fit!)

you <span style="font-style: italic">can</span> get in the water to swim in the cliffs area - but is not beach. water access is via climbing ladders down the cliff walls.

catcha is beautiful and very romantic - very peaceful up there - i would love to stay there with my next husband not an easy walk to the beach - very nice food

bbb has basic rooms, right on the beach - good for hitting the music on the beach at night - also frequented by a lot of jamaicans - jamaican owned

there are some pics of bbb in my trip report and i think marilyn has a picture of a room there

Don't know how I missed the posts from Bizzi and Seveen before I left my previous post.

From what I've read, I think it may be best to stay on the beach. If I were alone I think Catcha would be more my pace, but have to think of the youngster... You guys have been helpful. Tonks!

there are some other nice places to stay on the beach - check out negrilonestop.com - but book on your own

I like BBB for the beach and close location to other spots I like to visit but Catcha is more rustic if u like that kinda setting
