u go yaad an u find people dat oonoo get awn...said ting fi yaadies who have friends leff dung a yaad...

do u have the same scenario of being expected to supply tings...eida wen u come visiting n wen u bak home...do u get cawls from platonic friends fi money, foodstuff, outfit fi a special occasion...

how widespread is di 'send me a ting'...is it juss love relationships r is it also platonic relationships

I have friends male and female who never ask for a thing.

I had one female friend who got too beggy beggy so I do not carry for her when I go and I no longer keep in touch.

I have friends all over, but none of them make a heap of requests. That's a family function lol. That does not mean I have not helped out a friend in need, but I really don't get a lot of requests for help and I don't send out any. I keep my friend's list short though and the rest are just acquaintances.

The weirdest thing about LDFs is that they may drop off the radar sometimes and so do I. For the most part, we get back in touch eventually, may talk frequently for months like nothing has changed, and then go back to separation.

The begging ting usually reserve to mi madda ppl dem...i have a friend weh maybe couple time fi de year she wi call an want money fi light bill or if she know i am coming to ja, she want mi carry clothes, shoes, etc

Other than her, anybody else that ask for something will send me the money beforehand or gimi when i get there..

mi use fi fly een n out a yaad nuff going to shows n tings...mi had was fi stop mek people know wen mi a go weh cause is like mi was a higgler....one time mi carry a suitcase a tings fi smaddy from up a mi country n Jah know seh wen mi get up fi leff di smaddy ask mi fi di slippas mi did have awn...mi vex so till mi coulda did buss...a whole suitcase of tings an di shoes mi haffi awn dem wanted n mi fi walk barefoot

before i was a tourist - i had to take things down - bring things back and have my suitcase rifled for goodies

one sister friend in mobay used to come to my hotel on the last day and pick a couple of outfits she wanted - one of the <span style="font-style: italic">last </span> times she did this i said:

me: joan you coming up to pick some stuff?
joan: um - no - i want that pink outfit from monday - and the black outfit from friday
me: don't hold your breath . . .

Used to, but not anymore. Just said no.
It hasn't hurt any friendships.
