Best places to eat in Montego Bay

So what are the best places to eat in and around the Mobay area? - we staying at an AI but will probly want to venture out a couple nights to eat...

any recommendations? nice restaurants? good ambience? good food?

Haven't stayed in Mobay for a while and most times mi stay wid relatives so out of touch with the scene.

Marguerite's, Houseboat Grill, Pier One....

for more of a "diner" type meal, Jamaican style, The Pelican...

for jerk, the Pork Pit or Scotchie's......

Evelyn's on the seaside, road abuts the airport. She sometimes has roti, and always has a nice selection of jamaican food. You can sit out near the sea.

i like The Native the Boonoonoos platter is a sample of jamaican specialities and some nights they have music - the ambiance is very good

Marguerites is excellent for seafood and ambiance

but even the AI's have "restaurants" - just make your reservations for them as soon as your foot hits the property

Thanks Guys - I am making a note of all the ones that I Havent been to yet - Pelican is a must for me every time mi go Bay - dem Red Peas Soup is very sweet!

Seveen - yes - gonnna def hit up the restaurants on the property but don;t wanna stay in every night

The Native in an attractive location on Gloucester Avenue. Excellent Jamaican food at reasonable prices. Their Boonoonoonos (Jamaican for &quot;excellent&quot Platter lets you sample a number of local delicacies while their salad bar overflows with tropical goodies. Seafood specials on Fridays nights. Superb lunch buffet Fridays and Sundays. Call 979-2769 for <span style="font-weight: bold">free pickup.</span>

The Groovy Grouper is a great beachside hangout <span style="font-weight: bold">on Doctors Cave Beach </span>with a large bar and swings to enjoy the famous sunsets. There are umbrellas, beach chairs, lounges and just about everything else you could want for a day in the sun and a wild night party! Located at the famous Doctor’s Cave Beach. Seveen this sounds right up our alley - missa man will loves a good lobster and I can have a nice fish. - this one is definitely on the short list!

marilyn ate there on her one day trip to mobay - i think she posted a picture of the food she had there and raved about the place

there used to be one table outside right on the water - the waitstaff had to walk up and down a million steps but it was lovely

the inside of the restaurant is nice too . . .

I discovered two places on my last trip:
Fish Bones (by the airport and up from Toby's resort). I got the fried fish with onions/carrots and it was delish.

and Mobay Propper - steam fish was delish her too. They have patio seating.

is this the place at Dead End Beach, at the end of the runway? near the former hotel (the Buccaneer?) that is now part of UWI?
