Well I've just returned from our trip to Jamaica. It wasn't a vacation, but very memorable. We took my mother home to Jamaica for her burial, next to her sister, mother and other family members.
It was a very special service that was really intended to not only celebrate my mother's life but to thank the small community that helped to shape her character and inspire her throughout her life. That's the essence of the eulogy that I shared and I'm glad that I did.
We had her final service in the little church where she was baptized 69 years ago (Tooting Hall United).
On my second last day in Jamaica the sister of one of my mom's dearest friends invited me to spend a day with her on the beach and at her home. I didn't plan nor think I wanted a day at the beach this trip, but her kindness really helped me and the kids.
I want to return the favor by sharing with everyone here, her newest book - an historic romance novel with Jamaica as part of the backdrop of the story. The historic components of the story are very interesting (American slaves, Native Americans and the journey some made to the Caribbean).
