StAnnMuse, always great to see you. I understand totally about how different it is without our family members. In 400 days I lost my brother, mom, and now my dad. It sucks the big banana and I too, feel shell shocked and wonder if I will ever recover.

JMiss, how are you healing? I hope each day brings you closer to where you need to be.

Laurel, reggae at the Minnesota Zoo sounds like a regular thing, I bet it is a nice setting. The Bayfront Reggae festival is this coming weekend in Duluth. Not sure if I am going or not, I haven't planned that far ahead yet.

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. Speaking of healing, I went to a Veterans pow wow both Saturday and Sunday and what can I say except it does the soul so much good to be there soaking up First Nation tradition. My dad & brother were Veterans so they were included in the honoring of deceased Veterans and my life long friend Lana was honored as a Veteran on Saturday in ceremony as well. It was a wonderful weekend..

I must say I don't know how you people who live where it is warm can take it! We had a muggy weekend, and though it stayed cool in the 50's near the shore on Saturday, it made it up to 92 everywhere yesterday. The dancers went on like the energizer bunny in spite of it and I guess if you dance every weekend you become immune or something, but I was melting just taking pics.

We have a nice cool week in store with highs in the 60's so I will melt some glass finally. The tourists are flocking to the air conditioned city in droves to escape the heat elsewhere and driving kind of sucks. I might take a run to Upper Peninsula though, and drive around and see what there is for sale.

I've been gardening alot this summer.
Also hosted a baby shower for 75 this past saturday for my oldest son's 1st child
She will be named Myla Rose and is due very soon I've been waiting for him to have a child for a l o n g time

Now we are planning a camping trip for our summer vacation..haven't camped in almost 20 years. heres our camp

Its primative. No electric or running water on sites. bathe in the lake and walk half a mile to the toilet. sounds wonderful aye

you girls with allergies need locally harvested honey

Marnin Rootsie in waiting! Congrats on the upcoming blessed event.

The camping spot looks wonderful but not so sure on the long walk to the bathroom! I rather like 5th wheel style camping or motorhome, myself. Even when I was much younger, camping in a tent had no appeal. (I hate bugs and the ground is so hard ) We used to go a lot when we were growing up, and even then... I remember complaining.

So, is the building a shelter from bad weather or do you sleep inside?

this is a leanto we will sleep in.
We have a blow up comfortable mattress.

Oh good! I was hoping you get to sleep in the building! Looks like fun. The state park a mile away has campsites but none have the building luxury. It is always full though and it is always an interesting drive-by.

This place has only 6 sites on 300 acres
and the price is rediculous. only 20$ per visit..not per night

Roots - that camp site looks wonderful ... and wonderful news about a next GrandBaby !

Music at the Zoo has been happening for a few years now. BwoyChild's HS Graduation was held there as well. nice every time.

Hey everybody, hope all's well! Stephen Marley is in my neck of the woods on Wednesday evening!

Laurel, my grandmother used to give me a shot of honey (in a shot glass) and that was our sweet treat. I still have the shot glass. I've heard it takes about 30 days to build up in your system.

Nanook I'm so sorry to hear about the dear family members you have lost in just over a year. I'm struggling with one...I guess the best thing we can do is remember them in our hearts and honour them in the way we live our lives.

Good morning from mother nature's own air conditioned region. Whew, what a relief, even though it is only temporary. We are not acclimated to the heat, and the humidity makes it so much more unbearable. It is 55 now and today's high in the 70's with very low humidity. PERFECT.

Thanks StAnnMuse..it has been a hell of a year and I am somewhat relieved it is behind me now and when the grieving ends, another episode won't be waiting around the next corner. I am still shell shocked that it went down the way it did, but now I will have time to absorb it all.

I have not traveled in some years over thinking I need to be here to be close to family in case I was needed, and basically life came to a standstill. My first task is extensive remodeling/insulating, or moving to Michigan. I can't decide which I will do yet, but I don't have to decide today.

On a positive note, I have a dump truck coming tomorrow with a load of gravel! YAY! The memories of my car stuck in the mud in Spring will be but a thing of the past (until the next time,lol). My farmer neighbor, bless him..is coming with his tractor to push the load after it is delivered. This is so great because I am still having a hell of a time getting in and out past the spot where I got stuck. After last Friday's storm I had knee deep water and it stood for days. Not real good for the car unit...
