Good morning all...

Beautiful flowers Rootsie! I can't grow the hydreangea here, there is not enough drainage or something the red clay is a real beaatch.

I say life is to short to worry about what you should and shouldn't do, cause you only get one go around. Go for it for a night or two Laurel, really. Most people on their death beds only regret things they did NOT do, rather than things they did..

I had a little get away on Sunday. Back in Feb or so, I was able to nab a front row center seat at Big Top Chautauqua near Bayfield for Arlo. I have been eagerly awaiting the show for months and months. I have seen Arlo several times and each was fantastic, he is a story teller extraordinaire...

Anyway, it turned out quite the journey to get there, I had many obstacles!

On Friday, the day before this sweltering ungodly heatwave landed, on the way to town my car fan started squealing. There was no time to get it fixed. It is not the belt, cause that was replaced about 10,000 miles ago, so the next possible explanations are the pulley or the water pump (big bucks for that too)...

With the talk of impending storms, the scooter was not an option and I won't do that drive at night either over so many deer. I went and rented a car. A nice car with only 3,000 miles on it is what I ended up getting and it was very comfy.

Well, Sunday rolled around and it was 96 when I left home, thankful for the no worries car and I headed to Madeline Island & Toms Burned Down Cafe for a cool off...



I especially love Tom's when the daylillies are in bloom.



It was around 4:40 or so, and I was all settled in and having a good time when they announced ferry cancellations over an impending storm. The band had just started playing and we were all getting into the groove when I ended up high tailing it down to the ferry dock just in time to catch the last one to depart before 7:00...whew, I just made it.

It was kind of a wild ride, not in wave action but storms were coming across over to the east. Empty ferries were headed to the mainland, I suppose to catch the overflow of people on that side trying to get to the Island once the storms finished.

This empty reminded me of a ghost ship, I have never seen one empty before, was pretty fun



It started to pour about the time we reached the mainland.

I had a cooler with and decided to go check and see how the Onion River area was looking. The house we rented a few years ago had occupants, but now there is a sign at the beach, apparently it is a popular spot for small boat launching...



The car radio was going off every few minutes with more storm warnings and there were bad storms happening only 20 miles away to the east.

I started to get a bit worried about the show being cancelled after all the obstacles to get there. After all, the show is in this tent!



Imagine... to my chagrin, the skies turned blue once again. It was actually a bit cooler. The show started on time, and I had a wonderful few hours listening to tales told by Arlo and his always entertaining music. <span style="font-style: italic"> <span style="font-weight: bold">whew!</span></span>



The only problem I had through all of the trip was finding gas for the new car. Only because I am a newbie to the E85 thing. I pulled into a gas station and opened the gas cap and there was a big yellow cap that said E85. Silly me, I thought that meant you could only put E85 gas in the car so after hitting a few gas stations I drove to Duluth where I knew they had some, on fumes, basically...to fuel the car before returning it on Monday morning. Glad I didn't run out on the bridge!

Turns out you can put ANY gas in a E85 car, but you can not put E85 gas in a non E85 car. Oh well, live and learn!

Here is a little story Arlo told on Sunday night about one of my fav old time Arlo songs..and on that note, I am going riding this week cause I just gotta ride my motorsicle...I don't wanna die, just wanna ride my motor bike...

I will always say it ... that Flip Flop Weekend was truly one of the bestest weekends of a bunch coming together ever ....

refreshing day out in the pool again today -

I am not too worried about 'to stay at Jamaica Inn or not to stay' ... we have a wonderful plan coming together ~ roaming all around the Island ~ so nuff more dreams coming true; I just love love the look of the place tho ~ still ... probably too stoosh for the two of we ~
