Ritz-Carlton Jamaica shutting down

During a staff meeting this morning, the management of the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Rose Hall, St. James advised staff that the hotel would be closing down on May 20 and that all positions will be made redundant.
400 workers will lose their jobs. The hotel is owned by the Urban Development Corporation and the Rollins family and has been for sale for nine years. It was sold for over US$70 million to hotel group Playa, which will rename the resort.
