The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) has expressed concern about the removal of truckloads of sand from the coastline, west of Duncans Bay Beach and Silver Sands, in the northern western Jamaica parish of Trelawny.
JET has alleged that the removal took place over a period of at least three days last week, but is not ruling out that it may have been going on for much longer.
According to the environmental group, in a release on tuesday, it’s unclear whether this operation has received an environmental permit or a beach license from the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA).
