It seems that a particularly odious member of the management at one of MissM's accommodations had recently been relieved of her duties....the staff's level of excitement over this news was easily gauged by one staffmember's reaction...

When we were in Jamaica last February, we thought it would be smart to reserve a room at the Gloriana for the last nite of our July trip as that coincided with Sumfest's Dancehall Night....we even confirmed our reservation upon arriving in Jamaica in July....so it came as no surprise to me that when we got there, there wasn't a room to be had
Now, we've known Miss Minto, the owner, for a couple of years, so when she apologized and assured us that she'd find a room for us for the nite, that was good enough for me...alas, the tourist behind me wasn't quite as understanding....look up "Ugly American" in the dictionary and you'll see this dude's picture....he was loud, rude, crude, demanding and a complete embarrassment....I was in no mood to give the idiot the verbal dressing down he richly deserved, but if looks could kill, I'd be doing a life sentence right now!
Shortly thereafter, Miss Minto told us she'd found a room for us for the nite (for which she paid half! ) and sent us off with a hug and a kiss and a "See you next time!"
The idiot was sent off with a polite "good night."
Our next stop was the Buccaneer Beach Hotel...the place is a little worn around the edges, but to our delight (and the idiot's abject horror
) there was a very chill street party happening right out front of the place 
.....we spent the rest of the nite there....
I discovered the <span style="font-style: italic">best</span> thing about the place the next morning....Comment

I love making Gloriana my last stop before the airport! I have always been treated well, and find the place comfy. One visit for the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival we stayed at Gloriana and friends were staying at Buckaneer so I got a glimpse of that place down on dead end beach. Not too bad but like you, would prefer Gloriana. Glad you found a party for your last night! We usually take a walk down to Pelican for dinner and watch the goings on down the strip, pretty entertaining right there!
I'm sad this is ending. Kudo's to Pooh, I can't even sit at the same table with someone with a whole fish so she did good. But then I don't sit at the same table with anyone eating any fish at all (seafood ok though) so there ya go!

When I was a little boy, my dad used to take me to the Westchester County Airport, just outside White Plains, NY...at that time the place was little more than a runway, a chainlink fence and a World War II surplus Quonset hut for a "terminal" ...but we'd stand at the fence and watch the planes land and take off...land and take off...land and take off.....and to this day, I'm utterly fascinated by planes landing and taking off
....
so, for me, this was the best thing about the Buccaneer...

Sadly, our visit has drawn to an end...we took one last walk on Dead End Beach...and then, back to Sangster...I don't have any photos of our plane taking off

When we got to Jamaica, I asked Lindy if she could clean, parboil and freeze some ackee for me...I thought she might make me enough for a meal or two....I thought wrong....
this is just one of the <span style="font-weight: bold">five</span> bags she made for us!!

and a day or so after we got back to NY, this was on the stove (sorry traditional Jamaican cooks...
... all I had in the pantry was a red onion...but I <span style="font-weight: bold">did</span> have saltfish, a Scotch bonnet and homegrown thyme...)
