How this place could be closed at 5:00 p.m. in the Summer time is beyond my understanding.





Really love this one








And that was it. Four hours after we left Southfield in St. Bess, about five minutes was all I got at Coyaba. There was far, far more to be seen, especially the waterfalls. I could easily see myself flying in for a weekend, just to explore. For now, we had to get to Kingston.

Coyaba for you CEW, when you make another return.

Most places close at 5PM including Dunns River. It`s standard closing time throughout the year even when in December 5PM has lesser outdoor light than now.

It allows enough time to clean up I guess before it gets dark and allows workers to get home before too late.

reason for our little household to always grab an EARLY start to any adventure ~ destination ... to be able to enjoy the offerings ~

very lovely place still ... go back and enjoy it again one day. bummer tho - a bit of a deflated feeling for sure ~

For sure, next time I'm on the island, Coyaba is the first place I'm going to. No way I'm missing it...

Re the closing time, I can understand the need to clean up while there's still enough natural light. My initial reaction had more to do with the NA culture where most places are open well past 5:00 p.m.

Interestingly, maybe because I've been to Dunns River Falls so many times when I lived in Jamaica, going up <span style="font-style: italic">and down</span> the Falls, it doesn't seem to hold the same appeal for me now

I was bummed out initially, but it quickly became one of the primary things to do when on my next visit. It does seem very lovely...

After we left Coyaba, the drive to Kingston went fairly smoothly. Bad roads aside, going through Fern Gully brought back a lot of memories of traveling that road with my Dad (now deceased). The control (stop) lights at Flat Bridge seem to make a lot of sense, and an idea that was long overdue. I quite liked that they had fixed the roads there as well.

A stretch of road that was quite picturesque


I wanted to 'experiment' with a particular feature of the camera - catching a moving car in action mode from behind. I quite liked how it turned out (note the blur of the greenery).




We got into Kingston just after 8:00 p.m., then stopped at my sister's house to see my 4-month old niece, and catchup with my BIL.


My other 4 year old niece was fast becoming my fave. She never saw a camera she didn't like


After spending some time there, it was time to get to my other Sis, and where I was staying for the next day and a half.

It had been a long day and I was tired. My sisters and I had chatted on the phone for hours while I was in St. Bess, so there wasn't much else to catch up on that night. What caught my attention though was the way my 12-year old niece's room was painted. I absolutely loved it! Next morning Sis told me she had done it - after seeing it done on Home and Garden television.

White base, with the 'purplish'(?) color applied using a wash rag...


Tuesday, the day before departure. As always I had wanted to go see a Jamaican play, but my sisters hadn't even seen <span style="font-style: italic">River Bottom</span>, which I had seen in Toronto, so I took a pass. After breakfast with Sis and niece, and after they left, did laundry (I hate traveling with dirty stuff!) and repacked. Went to Mom's for dinner early afternoon, and spent the evening up Ligunea(?) hanging out at the Super Center.

Sis had recently bought this house and I was quite proud of her for what she had done with it. A peek at some of the things I really liked.

I could have take this with me. Nothing quite like the sound of running water.




Final thoughts later. The good Lord had one more surprise waiting for me.
