Sorry to be so late to jump in... We just returned from pur month in China and Hong Kong... Likkle Mo was dedicated/christened in that church when she was 6 months old!! She just turned 8 last week!!

Whew...Finally completed reading this awesome report! As a Jamaican living away from the island, this report does so much more than just 'sharing Jamaica'...its the memories, the nostalgia, the homesickness, identifying with the religious aspect of the JA culture and just the sheer intimacy that is connected with the land of our birth... Beautiful!! Well written!! Thanks CEW!

You didn't interrupt at all as I'm done As for Likkle Mo being dedicated at that particular church, quite a number of coincidences, huh? Do you remember who the minister was at the time?

I believe it was Wonlis Campbell, but I'll double check Likkle Mo's papers - there have been a few pastors come and go in the last couple of years.

Who was the pastor when you were there?? You likely enjoyed many of Likkle Mo's family (mostly Unlces) in the church band. Her uncle John plays guitar, and her Uncle Kenny runs the sound system and sings a lot.

Yep, Pastor Campbell is still there. Great guy, and for real, lots of energy @ Calvary! Unfortunately, I can't recall who the musicians or sound guy were the Sunday I was there. Small world, isn't it?

CEW what a soul stirring report. Bandanna mentioned goosebumps... yeah I got them bad bad reading your report. Your description of church in its simplest form reminded me of church growing up. The lively colorful testimonies, instruments that aren't plugged into a wall, hand clapping, praise...having CHURCH! Feeling as though I were a fly on a wall given your descriptive report, I've enjoyed meeting the people, basking in the tranquility of the falls, eating the delicious meals, admiring the gardens and travelling around with you. As always, the photography is outstanding. You have a very beautiful family, very adorable nieces and I love the use of color in your sister's home.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and the reminders that triggered your own reflections of what your church was like growing up that enabled you to join/share in my Mission '08 experiences. I'll certainly pass on your sentiments to my sisters.
