the flight from orlando was uneventful

abu and i arrived in mobay on time and there was no one in the immigration hall - walked right up - she checked our papers and said "Welcome Home!"

i walked out of the airport and caught a taxi to our hotel – the Juta operator inside the airport told me how much the trip would cost, the porter made sure i got in the right taxi. our driver was nice and we arrived with no drama at our destination

this trip i decided to spend 5 nights at Sunset Beach Resort in mobay and 7 nights in negril.

abu and i stayed at Sunset Beach several years ago but it has been refurbished since then and they built a waterpark for the kids. i thought it would be a very relaxing way to start our holiday but wasn’t sure I was going to be able to handle being “trapped” for 5 nights

of course we received "the armbands" - mine bothered me the entire time - i caught myself wanting to take it off several times

the ride through mobay was inspirational for abu and he decided to try out this popular style - no - he didn't get to go out in this getup although this style was very popular in negril

the resort is huge consisting of two tower building and a large 2 story property that had beachfront and poolside rooms

the lobby is airy and a great place to sit and play games or talk

the hotel was fully booked

the main attraction for abu was the waterpark

it consists of 2 huge waterslides

a lazy river - you get in a tube and slowly float around the pool

various waterfalls

a kids club

a teen club

and loads of kids

thankfully there were 2 other pools - one with a swim up bar and jacuzzi and another near the beach - so if you didn't come with kids - you didn't have to be bothered with kids

the deepest pool was 4 feet deep - so little chance of drowning





see the lower buildings behind the pools - they are rooms also - i think i would prefer staying there - if i return

there were 4 or 5 bars - walk right up - order what you want - thank you - no tipping allowed - although the bellman took one in the privacy of my room

and entertainment every night - the house band was good and the other entertainment was nice too - no worries about driving back to the hotel after imbibing too much

i was pleasantly surprised to see that almost every country in the world was represented in the guests staying at the resort - loads of Jamaican families from the UK, Koreans, Japanese, Canadians and the USA - very refreshing

the beach was long and there was paddle boats, snorkeling, sunfish

there was even a clothing optional beach - far away from the main resort - i never saw a soul there

It's terrific to see Abu grow up right before our very eyes. Kind of like a nephew I see once a year at Christmas and take note of how much they have grown up since last time.

Your vacation looks wonderful so far!!!
