I value ppl's stories about their lives and memories of growing up. It is a world that is not mine, so like others it truly is a thrill to hear the oral stories from older folks. So much can be learned and felt thru them from hearing such stories. They allow you to take a walk in the past and see the same place thru a completely different set of eyes.
That is beyond valuable because no history book can capture the vibes they bring to the stories
