Coming off of a sad and lonely birthday in Miami, I needed a pick me up. Just DG had made plans to go to Jamaica in Oct., and asked me to come over too. All I needed was an excuse.

This was going to be a Sun. - Wed. thing with both of us returning together. I don't know quite how to describe that these few days are starting to feel like long trips, not because I am unhappy or anything, but it just seems that I can get so much in in such a short amount of time now. One of the tricks I have learned is I can't sit around for two days mumbling "I can't believe I'm here, I can't believe I am in Jamaica." I now know that I have to get that "Jamaica feeling" in the customs line or I am doomed from the start.

First disappointment for all of you out there, I think I took maybe 4 pictures, and they aren't all that. Secondly the two best things, the most exciting things of this trip I will not share here....you see there are some nut cases out there, and I don't want them contacting, hunting down, or even KNOWING my people because they seem intent on ruining my life,fun, special place I call Jamaica.

Enough said on that.


On the plane I met a very wonderful lady who is Jamaican born, but now lives in Amsterdam. That is an important contact for me personally because Amsterdam is really on my short list. She was returning home to visit her Dad, and we had lovely conversation. I helped her get situated with her ride home with the use of my cell phone, and she gave me her contact info so I can call her when I come to Holland.

I'm in Negril in a pretty good time frame, and I am so happy to see that many of my regular crew are there at For Real. I remarked to just DG that it was like a family reunion.

So I took my girl to dinner at Angelas. Man that garlic bread stuff they bring you out before dinner. Beware, it is to die for, but it will make you too full for your meal. We have salad and chicken parm TO DIE FOR. We split one meal between us because they bring you enough for a small nation. Just DG said this was the best meal she ever had in her life...
EVER...now that is a compliment.

Later pm that night we went to Alfreds and ran into Jitterbug. Man is she a live wire!!!

SAME THING happened at Alfreds...I had ONE DRINK and it was lights out. Will I ever learn....They do something to drinks there that I end up having to tell whoever I am with...I HAVE to go home.

This drink was bought for me by a guy clad head to toe in leather....yep[ LEATHER in Jamaica...I asked him if he was hot, and he said no, but this leather coat I swear to you, ;looked like the one in the Matrix. He bought the drink and then left. He asked me where I was staying... and why did I tell him???..he said real cool, I will come check you tomorrow, paid for the drink, then left.

Now I figure this is his cool signature gigolo move because this shows you that
1. I can buy YOU a drink
2. I Can take you or leave you
3. I am not going to spend all night here shooting you the usual lines
4. I will see you tomorrow on MY time.

I'm not interested no matter how you play it, but I had to give the brother credit for pulling a new move on me in Jamaica.

Jitterbug I apologize for leaving without saying goodbye, but this happens every time at Alfreds, I KNOW when it is time to go, and if I wait one second longer, it is big time trouble.

I decide to walk, I am really trying to walk this stuff off..When this little appendage attaches itself to me, refuses to leave me alone, and INSIST on walking me all the way back to For REAL from Alfreds. I told you, I do know when I am no longer fit to be around other human beings, but I don't think HE did. When he started in on me with all the usual, I found myself yelling at him at the top of my lungs all the way down Norman Manley, and saying, I am sure, a few none to nice things. But do you think that detered him on iota....nope.

He walked me every step of the way home until I was safely with security at the hotel. Then I just crashed in the bed.

The next morning, someone had picked For Real up and placed it on top of my head....but just in case you think I am exaggerating, just DG felt the same or worse, and here's the kicker, she was only drinking Pepsi. Man we were some sad puppies.
Maureen made me a hangover cure, and I hit the ocean for some help from mother nature.

Suddenly I see the biggest sting ray I have ever seen personally just lanquidly swimming by. I notice several people in its path next door at Coco Laprison, so out of the water I ran to "warn" them. I ran out into the water just a screaming "STINGRAY STINGRAY" The ladies and one guy take one look and go to head out of the water when the guy looks at me and says "ARe you...no you can't be....but are you MARILYN?"


"Yes'

Oh man I am ____ from Ja.com, and I read all of your stuff, every word, and YOU are the reason we no longer stay in All inclusives."

You know what....I don't think that anyone has said anything nicer to me in my whole life.

We pretty much spend the rest of this evening at For Real's bar, and talk and talk and talk. He says that he has had some valuables stolen out of his room at Co CO Laprison, and I am later to learn that at least one other guest was robbed as well.

On the other hand, at For Real, I left 400.00J on the night stand to tip my housekeeper, and I had to go hunt her down to give it to her as she would not touch it. I told her that while I am there, the money left on the nightstand is for her.

You know I wouldn't have such a vendetta against the place next door if they had gotten back with me as promised after the vacaction I spent there, and I just don't mean to offer me something, but just an official word of apology would have been good enough for me. So they have made a not-so friendly person out of me when it comes to their hotel.

Tonight I get to dress up in a beautiful dress that Angie bought me, and a necklace that belonged to my mother.(I wanted to somehow take her to Jamaica with me) Just DG and I are going to Catch a Falling Star for dinner. I know one of my friends is staying there, but I was surprised with friend #2, as I did not know she was in town. The four of us, then joined by Rob and Lisa of Negril.com, and some of their friends, plus another lovely couple staying there, had a lovely lovely evening talking and laughing and having drinks. It was the kind of evening in Jamaica that makes you say "Now this is why I come here."

My girls show Just DG their room at Catcha, and all I can say is, her mouth was just hanging wide open.

They are really really making some progress on the pool now, and all I can say is if that place gets any prettier (whic is about to happen), they are going to have to officially change the address of heaven.

This evening we wanted to stop back by Canoe for drinks, but it is shut up, windows boarded up. This is just for the slow season....and speaking of slow. If you ever want to go to Negril, and like have the whole beach and town to yourself, this would be a good time of year to go.

This evening, no going out for us, the girls retire to bed. I have something wonderful to look forward to tomorrow.

The next day it's the ocean, and my new found friends and sea and sun. As promised a friend shows up to take me to Little Bay.

I only took pictures with my mind's eye. We took the way through the hills up and up and up. When you get to little Bay the water is different, prettier I think. We ride past the little fishing villages and stopped to have a red stripe with the lovliest man. He talked to me like he had known me all my life. We must have stayed there about an hour. We spoke of the man who was killed in the land dispute some yeras ago, and he showed me all of the houses the man owned. We also spoke of Uncle Sam, and he was amazed at how much I knew about the runnings in the area.

I found my souvenir for this trip at his place which I will post a picture of later. You guys will get a kick out of this one.

After we just rode through the place for a while, we returned to Negril and had some lunch. It was really nice to go up into that area. You notice the difference in attitudes almost immediately. As we rounded any corner on the way there or back, soemone knew him and spoke warmly. One friend was so put off that he did not stop and talk as usual, but he told him "mi pon a mission today."

The next morning we get up early and head to Montego Bay. This is basically where I will not tell you what happened that day. but it was a magnificient adventure. My plan was to stop by a certain gift shop to get something for a friend, but DG and I got kidnapped and caught up in something that we both would never dreamed would happen. This took up all of our time until flight time, and then we were dropped off at the airport.

I wish I could share it, but someone will call the person in Jamaica,. and tell them I was talking about them (on the internet) and probably add some S I never said to ruin the relationship....As I often say, I wish you would get a life.

OK so here I am back in the US, but not without making yet another great friend on the flight back. She's going into my fold, and when she moves to Atlanta, I am going to have a big old girlfriend gathering for her. WE talked for 3 solid hours non-stop like we had known each other all of our lives. great gal, and Jamaica addicted just like me.

I had to carve two or 3 big chuncks out of this report to protect the innocent, and quite frankly, my lack of picture taking this trip is a direct result of the nasty mess that occured on here a couple of weeks ago. I did see that guy one day, but I said nothing to him.

I know that I will not let anyone rob me of my joy for long, but it is just in between bizarre incidents on Ja.com I need a rest.

I think I've managed to do this report somewhat and respect the privacy of all parties concerned.

Oh by the way...Jamaica did make up for Miami.

Jitterbug..You are a wonderful, wonderful person.. I will be waiting for that drink when we meet up again..

I had an amazing trip, relaxing.. Marilyn and that stingray you would have thought Jaws was in the water.. lol!!

The food was outstanding where ever we ate.. I only had BK 1 time..

Well, thats my trip report in a small version.. Just don't want to put everything out there..
