My mother had an expression for Saturdays when it came to meals "Every tub sits on its own bottom." After worrying what I would eat for three meals 6 days a week, Saturdays were the days of rag bolgona and grahman crackers with orange Nehi drinks from the Sundry store. I finned for my own self on Saturdays. This trip, this thought came to me, when it comes to Jamaica, every tub sits on its own bottom....translation, every trip to Jamaica is a trip in and of itself, and is not to be compared to the trip before, the next trip or the one 10 trips from now.

Having said that, I have another expression, there is no such thing as a "bad" trip to Jamaca.

Which often makes me wonder, why upon return, my friends ask "How was your trip?", rather than "How wonderful was your trip this time?", or "What did you do this time?" Asking me "How was your trip?" is a waste of time. Of course my trip was wonderful, just how or what degree of wonderful it was it what you should be asking.

Now last trip was hard to top, but it is not the job of this trip to "top" last trip, it is the job of this trip to just be THIS TRIP, end of case.

This trip was conceived on a whim. I was talking to a friend about my friend Seveen taking her son Abu to Jamaica for his spring break. This lead to me calling her to ask their dates, then leading to friend I was talking to saying, that if you are going, may I go???? Then the next thing I knew, I had a ticket before Seveen and Abu even had one... then, of course, girlfriend #2 chickens out AFTER Seveen, Abu and I commit. But, Oh well, I don't know how to UNplan a trip to Jamaica, just how to plan them and make them work. HAPPEN. Once I have a ticket, hotel reservations, and coverage for my dogs, why turn back????

OK so how pathetic is this, I am going to the spring break of a 13 year old, or is this a better excuse for you, I left one of my favorite earrings at Seveen's house on my last visit, and she said she would return it to me in Jamaica...ok that works for me.

I will tell you this..I loved going this time, loved it, because it was not planned. I felt giddy, reckless, young, ecstatic. Flight was wonderful, Clives was ON TIME, and I was off to Negril. With a whole lotta folks upset at me, Like Just DG, but gurlllll I's retired and flying by the seat of my pants and there is now telling what I might do next.

aaaahiighht so ima just put it back there once again, I truly believe in Jamaican owned and operated properties. I see now sense in going to a predominately black country and sending money to SPain, Canada, and Minnesota (though I really like Minnesota people, but you get it I think).

So I went back to Bar B BARN after getting caught up in some whack board politics that proved not to be true (two sides to every story, and in this PARTICULAR one I should have known better).

This is not the first time I have been back, but this time really reminded me that along with For Real these are my tow homes in Negirl.

Ok so go head and laugh, I got the "parrot room". Hell I JUST NAMED the 5 of them...and went to sleep. Seriously the room was so comfy cozy I didn't want to get up and it the beach each day.

ok i just count I have 7 pictures and 5 of them are food, but I'm tired. Long trip back from Jamaic and a Tornado waiting here at home, maybe tomorrow.

My next door neighbor asked me to tell her about the trip when I picked up my mail, and looking back on it, the one thing that defined this trip was couples. Couples good, and couples bad.

Good couples (to me), were the lovely husband, wives and families that came from Kingston and the rest of the world for a lovely Easter holiday.

Couples bad, were like Susan Boyle and her little nonsensical, flagrantly unfaithful, unattractive, uncouth, loud , boisterous ,classless, little gigolo. This "person" claimed to have "once been a big reggae star in Europe (yeah right).

When he was not around, she merely sat at the bar like a constipated bulldog puppy with her jowls almost hanging down to bar level looking pathetic and lonely (man I am sooooo glad a man does NOT define my time in Jamaica).When he was there, she would stand behind his bar stool and drape herself all over him like a cheap suit.

She was LOST without him and spent countless hours sitting at that bar alone being evil to the staff. Just evil (Don't take it out on them because your "man" needs hours of breaks from you , probably had another one at another hotel somewhere that week)

You know what....if I was paying for some (___), he would have to be right up under me 24/7 breaks not included. Why in the hell would you come all the way from England to see someone and spend 2/3s of your time sitting at a bar pouting and looking over your shoulder for his azzzz?

This is how I met Susan Boyle. I was on my lap top and she was sitting to my right scowling as usual. She came off her bar stool and stood next to me and says "When you are finished I need to use that." (indicating MY computer).

So I am so stunned I just say "ok", and keep doing my stuff. Then Seveen comes out with hers and I want to download a picture, so I go to get the camera cord from my room. Upon which Susan says "Are you finished?"

"No I am just going to my room to get something, but you may use it while I am gone, you might be finished by the time I get back" hint hint
