I stayed on the beach until almost sunset. Then it was just a short walk back to the Wexford. I took a few pics along the way back.

All of this talk about Jamaica and tourism gave me a JOnes that I could not fill, so I had two days with nothing to do and wanted to see what it was like to fly over for one day and come right back.

There is this restaurant next door to M'ville in Mobay call Maragettes, and I really really had a hankering to eat there,also I was pheening for some oxtail.

So I got up yesterday morning, packed, called the next door neighbor to feed the dogs and was on the 9:30 flight to Jamaica. </div></div>

I went to my room fully intending on going out. If Seveen had not called me and got me to get up, I would have been out for the night and missed my chance to go to Margarettes, which was one of the main purposes of my trip.
I saw the place when I was in Mobay with my girl, and I thought it was so beautiful and so romantic. It was another one of those places I felt one should be with your SO, but since it seems that is not going to happen I had to decide that I better go or I’ll be ancient waiting on that to happen.

It was a short walk down the street. Not much happening in Montego Bay. I am convinced that the all inclusives have ruined any chance the place has of a vibe.

I didn’t realize how late it was. After they seated me, I noticed that they started taking all of the place settings and glasses off of all the other tables. I was the only customer there, and that is a shame, because this place is just exquisite. I had a seafood chowder, that I almost cried when I ate the last spoonful. I let my waitress pick my entre’, and she selected for me a snapper roasted in banana leaf . My lord what can I tell you about this food, other than it was WORLD CLASS.

Now my bill was kind up- there, this places is NOT cheap, but in a nanosecond I would go back there.

If it had a down side, I would say it would be having to listen to the music from M’ville and the DJ. Not really bad, but this is a classy place, and the two don’t seem to go together to me.

After dinner, I just went home. I wasn’t feeling M’ville. It was too early for it, and I wasn’t going to sit there until it started hopping, so it was lights out for me after dinner.

In the wee small hours of the morning I heard voices. A little agitated, but not arguing. I went on the balcony to see what was up. A barrel chicken guy and his friends were “reasoning” about some topic, and I just poured myself a drink and sat on my balcony trying to hear the topic. Their voices drifted on the air and up to my room, that sweet sweet Jamaican patois punctuated with excitement and the joy of making a good point.

I looked out at the ocean and the twinkling lights in the hills of Mobay beyond, and thanked my lucky stars that I could do this. I made a adventure out of two days that originally held little promise of excitement. Jamaica for one day…..flying over to get some oxtail and have dinner at a place I had been longing to explore. Several times I caught myself pinching myself. Could this be the little girl who was scared of her own shadow??? How brave we have become. I love the fact that I did not know where I was going to stay. I like the fact that I got out of my Gloriana comfort zone and tried someplace new.

i remember eating there before m'ville

we had a table for 2 right at the sea

the food was awesome then too

and the atmosphere was just lovely

and yep - the all inclusives killed the mobay vibe

back in the day - there were all kinds of restaurants and clubs

then the vendors became too hard core and A/I was &quot;invented&quot; to at least keep tourist coming

cornwall beach used to be the spot for live music - now it's the place you get your jetski while staying at breezes closed to the public - i loved that bar wrapped around the giant tree - and the shortcut is now that breezes hotel . . .

i don't even want to think about it
