for all the spectacular 'postcard' shots people take, it's these random ordinary ones just lookin down the road, that makes me catch my breath. i really dunno what it is, something about looking down that road, it makes me wanna be there so bad

Ok..I just found my Trip report that I posted on Negil.com, so some of you may have read it before-sorry... Here ya go:
(This was my 3rd trip to Jamaica, but 1st to NEGRIL)
Day 1-
Off to the airport for our 9:50 flight, we left on time and everything was uneventful-no problems. Go outside,the first thing I feel is that wonderful Jamaican heat! Ahhhhh ok, now where's the transportation? Look around and there is the guy holding the One Stop Vacation sign, and off we go. Our first order of business was food. We arrived at the airport at 3pm and we were ready to eat, we asked our driver to stop somewhere good and he took us to Jerky's. Ummm it was just ok- a bit dry and nothing to write home about. The best part of the meal was that first sip of red strip aaaaahhhh, now I can really start my vacation. Off to Negril we go. We arrive at Coco La Palm and right away any reservations I had were immediatly dimineshed. Check in was a breeze,our room was ready and the front desk staff was so nice(by the way kudos ot Misha-she's such a sweetheart)Got to the room,looked around and all was good. THe room was clean and comfortable. We had 2 queen beds, a fridge, table and chairs and wet bar.THe room did not feel cramped our crowded and there was plenty of space-everything we needed. Hopped out of our travelling clothes into swim suits and off to check out the beach and feel the ocean air. On our way to the beach I spot the bar and just in time for the 2 for 1 drink specials they have everyday between -7pm-right up my alley! Got drinks and went to the beac but before I could sit down I had to dip my feet in the water. I have waiting for this moment for such a long time. WOW, the water was sooo incredibly warm! The colors were beautiful and it was crystal clear. Now I can finally sit and realax. After drinking and induldging in some sight-seeing, we decide to get showered and head to The Jungle(Thursday night)We asked the guard before leaving Coco how far down the Jungle was and if we could walk it and she said yes-so we did.(we spend most of our trip walking) Now, the Jungle was ok.I'm not the night-club person, so this really did not appeal to me. The girls and I stayed for about 1 hour and left. Not what we are really into, now maybe about 15 years ago would have been a different story, but uhhhh not now, I'll leave those type of nightclubs to the 20 somethin' crowd. As we left there, we spot a grill going. Man, it was smelling good so we had to grab some jerk chicken, This time it was from Mr. Spice's food cart. It was pretty good, better than Jerkys, so we walked back to the room and called it a night.Comment

Day 2-
Before I even get dressed and get my day started, I step out on the patio (yep in my jammies) to get a glimpse of the morning sun. It was a bit over cast with the sun peeking out here and there. We had a garden view room #321 that faced the gazebo. The gardens and grounds were immaculate, so I did not mind at all having the garden view room. Anyway, I wake the girls up and we soon head out to Coco’s restaurant for breakfast. I LOVE eating breakfast on their terrace, I mean what better way to start your morning off than to wake up to a view that overlooks the Caribbean?! I start off with an addicting cup of Blue Mountain coffee and decided to order the Ackee and Saltfish. The girls order banana pancakes, and French toast. Well, the Ackee is NOT for me. I mean visually it looks like eggs, but I think it was the texture that threw me off, and I wasn’t crazy about the flavor. Now the Saltfish I dig, but I am a big fish/seafood person.One of my girls really loved it, and the other two passed. There was also boiled bananas on the plate that I could not eat.I just could not get past the visual-lol, besides that,the did not have much flavor. Anyway, no biggie, just had another cup of coffee and some of the banana bread. Besides,the view was so wonderful I can’t complain at all! After breakfast, we knew we had to exchange money and pick up a few things to keep in our fridge like “Wata”, beer, and wine. After talking to Whitney, he took us over to the Hi-Lo and waited patiently for us to grab everything we needed. Upon returning from the store, we head over to the beach, grab some towels and beach chairs and get comfy. After laying out a bit, it’s time to jump in the water-had to make sure it was still warm and relaxing, and it was. Now, it started to sprinkle-then it started pouring. It must have rained for about 2 hours. We head back to the room, grabbed a deck of cards, sat on the patio and got a game of spades going until the rain went away. Once it finally stopped raining it was time for lunch. We asked the security guard at Coco what was a good place to eat and she suggested sweet spot- (not sweet spice)—So we walk down the road and as we approach sweet spot, we noticed that a lot of cab driver and locals were there so we figured it couldn’t be that and decided to give it a try. Not bad, we tried the stewed conch, oxtails, and stewed beef. Headed back to the beach, grabbed some red stripe an chilled until the sun went down. After some mingling with the bartenders, security and other workers at coco, we found out that the place to be tonight was Alfreds. Now , I read that Alfeds always has bands on Tuesday and Saturday, but since this was only Friday I was a bit surprised, but also relieved because we did not have any other plans. Cool. Head to the room, shower, get dressed and head to Alfreds. I really like the vibe here way more than the Jungle. I love listening to live reggae bands and everyone was more relaxed and in “chill mode” here. After a couple of hours and a few drinks, we call it a night.Comment
