Re: Behind the Tattered Curtain...
me tink dis did a go die a slow death, but i guess not....so, let me add one of my friends interpretation/reaction of this story....and she is not a member here~
<span style="font-weight: bold">I finally read it!
My take on this is that that woman should keep her opinion to herself and shut the **** up! She sought out and chose the worst aspect of one person's life in Jamaica and used that as a general example of life for the majority of the people on the island when that is farthest from the truth. Ironically, her example a Jamaican but instead a a displaced drug addict foreigner who made Jamaica her home and chose to live in squalor. The author is one of those who is looking to make money from a book at the expense of our national pride. The author dragged down Jamaica by sensationalizing the story to spark interest and generate sales of her book. She it telling the world that Jamaica is a far cry from the island paradise it is long considered to be, and that there is a seedy dirty side to the island brought on by poverty that most of the people live in. This she is trying to convince readers is the dirty little secret about Jamaica that they never knew about, but America is no different, there are families here that live in dire poverty, squalor and crime, but that's not what America is defined by. Those bastards only have to encounter one incident or a single scenario and that will be used to define our little country, a so called "Third world country" .... Liar! You bet she is one of those white women that goes to Jamaica to smoke weed and have sex with the rastas....
