Then he asks if I’m on medications and a few other questions that I had a “no” answer for. I asked him how does this occur and if it has been developing for a while. I tell him that I am going on vacation in 2 days for almost 2 weeks and I need to get better, QUICK!!!!!

He writes me a prescription and tells me that he has also put in an order for an alternative medication in case I decide not to get the one he has prescribed. He asks me how many days I want of and provides me with a get out of jail free card (work release note) and I thank him. He tells me to see my eye doctor ASAP. I got to the pharmacy and the women behind the counter started speaking a foreign language or so it seemed when she told me the medication, a bottle of eyedrops would be $219.00, it’s non-formulary so no discounts are available “Okay so what is the alternative prescription, how much is it and what’s the difference?” The alternative medication was less expensive and took longer to work. After about 2 minutes of debate and balancing moral decisions , I told them to go ahead and fill the high as giraffe nanny prescription Lucky me, when it was filled the clerk told me they were looking at the wrong column and that it wasn’t $219, but closer to $150.00 I felt relieved but was still bummed that I had unexpected expenses so close to vacation. Oh well, on with the show The next day I had an early AM appointment with the ophthalmologist. I expressed to the doctor that I feared running out of the eye drops since the bottle was so small and I needed to take it for the 2 weeks while I was away. She went in the cabinet and gave me a sample…I wanted to ask her for 3 more cause three more would equal to the 1 bottle I just bought

I was advised to not swim or at least not submerge my face in water for 10 days. Oh this is really getting ugly. The next day I drove around like a blind pirate wearing an eye patch along with my glasses cause my eyes were sensitive to light. For fear that the dark patch would make the infection worse, I stopped wearing it and I had to cease driving and stay home until I could function with one eye opened and one eye closed. By Monday night, the medication was working and I didn’t look like I had the coodies as much anymore. By Tuesday morning I was feeling more hopeful that my eye issues wouldn’t have such a great impact on my vacation.

Leaving is always a production. I am never ready and packed fully the day before, there is always one last thing I need to do. My dad patiently waits for me to bring my bags out and by the time the bags actually make it out of the house his patience has been tried. When I hear the phone ring I know that’s my last warning before he comes inside to get me. He would just have to wait a few more minutes because I needed to take a picture of my bags

The headache was at the airport My flights usually depart between 10:55pm-11:55pm depending on the time of the year. I was fortunate enough to be reacquainted with the same jerk face Delta employee working curbside that I had in February I have come to believe that he is purposely paced there to cause people to miss checking their bag and flights so that Delta can handle the late night flights they always overbook. This time was no different, I approached him with a humbleness cause I had a unpleasant previous encounter. Oh well he killed the humbleness with the first pop off of an attitude. I kept my cool and checked my bag with about 7 minutes to spare before cut off

The security line was horrendous and the mazes they were snaking us through had us in areas that were reserved for VIP. I didn’t have enough time to grab me a drink. But I was just happy to make it through the battlefield.

I flew from LAX to Atlanta arriving early in the morning with a 2 hour layover. By lunchtime I was touching down in Jamaica.

Oh No, say it ain't so! Not the same guy from February's trip - at least you were able to put him behind you and start your trip on a better foot! Can't wait to see the pictures - your trip reports are always so colorful; I see the bags; let's get going!

Customs was a breeze and my driver was waiting for me, well his volunteer help was waiting for me. A dude from Alabama was holding the Clive’s sign. I asked if he was on a working vacation He was travelling with a friend and It was their first time travelling to Jamaica. I was the only person that they were waiting for so as soon as my bags were loaded we were off.

They were funny and we cracked travel jokes the whole way to Negril. I gave them my number in case they wanted to keep in touch during their stay.

We stopped at Biggas and I got soup. I usually get one of everything, but today I just wanted something light.

Hey Mz. Fancy gurl, all is better but I have to keep a serious watch on my eye these days..the jury is still out on refilling my contact lens prescription

When people have asked where’s a good place to stay in Negril, I try to give them a recommendation I can provide first-hand knowledge about. I liked my stay at CoCo LaPalm but I hadn’t stayed there in over 4 years so I took advantage of a special they were running to see if the place was still on my recommended list.

The room was the deluxe room. Ground level, King Bed, table, 2 chairs, bathroom with shower, no tub, small patio outside of the room.

First things first. After I put my bags down, I wiped down the room with my hard surface cleaner and disinfecting wipes. And yes, CoCo does have sugar ants. But they were mostly visable around the bathroom sink and near the coffee maker area.

After cleaning I enjoyed the rest of my soup.

It was raining out so I didn’t have a need to get dressed for the beach. My driver friend Richard stopped by to see me once I got settled in, and we discussed what my plans/needs for the next 10 days would be if any. He was always dependable, always responded to my calls and gets up at no matter what time of night to take or pick me up from somewhere, so I have continued to use him for the last 4 years.

It took me a little while to get my bearings together since I'd been up all night travelling. Before I knew it, it was eveving and the sun had set. I got dressed for the evening and my appetite was calling so I called Richard to take me to Chicken Lavish, which has become a staple for my late night need to eat still open late restaurant needs. But tonight I went there earlier than I usually do. Soup (always) and sweet and sour chicken.

After dinner, I headed next door to my 2 of my favorite hangouts, For Real Bar and Sunbeach bar. I stayed at For Real for one drink and moved over to Sunbeach. I saw familiar faces behind the bar and sitting on stools. There was a new bartender that I hadn’t seen before. Great personality and was the life of the party so I was motivated to drink a lil more and stay a lil longer.

I couldn’t hang out too late this night, I had an early morning and a long day ahead of me tomorrow. I was going to Treasure Beach and having lunch at Little Ochie with friends.

Our driver had never been to Little Ochie but he said he was familiar with the area. He didn’t state that when we made arrangements for him to take us out for the day, but hey, it made for an interesting ride. Keeping a very confident demeanor, he asked several people for directions some were helpful and some wanted an exchange for information. He asked men, women and young children for directions. It was raining and the ride at times was extremely bumpy, excuse me, at most times, it was extremely bumpy
