Winter Blues Without the Blahs

I'm not very experienced at this trip report thing but here goes. I am in Jamaica and, for a the first time in many, many years, I am actually on vacation. Yes, I have traveled to Jamaica several times over the past three years but it was always about taking care of my mother's affairs. She is well and settled nicely into her apartment in Kingston.


So here I am on the North Coast for six days I am staying in a Silver Sands cottage with friends and we have VIP tickets to the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival.


So let's talk about this "festival" as it is neither jazz nor blues . But the line-up this year is super. The festival is for three nights - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Tonight is the first night and it will be reggae portion of the festival. Line up for tonight is:

Woke up this morning to the sound of the waves. After a cup of coffee with condensed milk. I chatted with friends - all Jamaicans BTW ... all of us walking around in our pajamas and chillin an bussing out wid pere joke and laff

I left them and walked down to the beach for a swim and relaxation. The lifeguard came up and asked me if I knew the beach was closed until 1:00 PM today due to a required inspection? I said, "No way!" When I asked him why, he informed me that "Inspector" was coming to check for bacteria. As I got ready to go back to the cottage, he laughed and told me "ah joke, yuh hear." Dis was me ---> and then I told him he was a wikked an heevil man

Miss Lorna made saltfish fritters for breakfast and I had patties and mojitos for lunch. I showed Miss Lorna how to make mojitos (she brought the mint from her house this morning) and she made another batch. Now I'm off to take a nap in prep for the show tonight. Pictures later ....

It was honor to be in the presence of Ken Boothe He received a lifetime achievement award from JazzFest. Mr. Boothe is such a professional notwithstanding the white shoes.
