k. ...let's see, ...this was the last 7 days or so an we didn't take very many pics. On the 17th we headed down to Newport, Oregon to spread LB's dads ashes.

...here's some old photos of the Oregon coast





LB's mom chartered a fishing boat and we headed out past the Newport bridge (2nd most photographed on the west coast, after San Francisco's Golden Gate) to spread the ashes.

...then we hopped a plane in Portland Monday and flew into Denver, heading south past Pueblo, Colo. a day or so before the tornado hit <span style="font-style: italic">there </span> . I had reserved a car from Thrifty, (I highly recommend them) but they didn't have what I thought I was getting, so they told my more diplomatic partner to pick any car on the lot. She pointed to a blue Hummer H3..... <span style="font-style: italic">and I just KNEW this was going to become another on a list of rentals we have destroyed </span>

One day into it, somewhere in the foothills of the Sangre de Christo Mtns.

this next group of pics should probably be posted up in &quot;home improvement/ decorating&quot; or something.

....so we finally make it out of the woods an down to Taos, where we had been invited to stay at the summer place my (ex?)uncle built. I hadn't seen him for 10 yrs. or so.

....this place is about 15 miles from my aunts' abode.

My cousindude, an archetect/surfer in S.F., designed it...so it kinda has the Mid-century modern, Southwest Adobe, Buddist feel to it.

it was very clean, and I used those pots outside for an ashtray. oh well.
...it was great to see him and he is an awesome <span style="font-style: italic">storyteller! </span>

...in between the 2 nights at the &quot;summer hacienda&quot; ...we took a drive along &quot;the high road&quot; to Taos, but only took a few pics at one village along the way.

This adobe church was built around 1650.

on thursday we pulled into my aunt's place, where I walked in the door, plopped down on her couch, breathed out an <span style="color: #3333FF"> <span style="font-style: italic"> &quot;I'm HOME!!!&quot;</span> </span> and promptly fell asleep for about 3 hrs.
...Then we ate tortillas with chicken, salsa, an stuff.






we spent the next 2 nights at a motel in town because my aunt's place only has one room (besides the bath) and my sleeping habits are horrific

...so we got up on Friday morn, I think it was...and I asked LB if she wanted to drive a bit south to a village where this certain house was, that I'd been lookin at on the internet (for the last 5 months). She had already &quot;caught the bug&quot; as we had beeen driving around, so......

we turned right here, and drove around but couldn't find it. Finally went into the store and asked the locals.



here's the pics from the ad.
the reality was much different when the realtorgyal showed it to us that afternoon.

it was built by a guy 4 yrs. ago and has never been occupied, except for the bugs and dead mice in the bathtub.

...now if ya want to get to this village from the mesa on the west side of the Rio Grande, you can take this road here....

Oh I just love this! I NEED to get back out there soon!! I hope you buy the house so I can come and visit and go rafting down the Rio Grande!

I just love those roads! A vista around every hairpin!

dang Dude picture pretty area but i'd want a sidearm snakes! ya know..

I can deal with the snakes....it's the BEARS in the areas where the mesa meets the mountains. My aunt AND uncle have stories of them being in their yards!
