So that's our story...we raced back to the airport Monday afternoon and walked back into our place about 11PM.....
to the St Louis massive!
to the Jacksonville massive!
to the Little Rock massive!
to the Memphis massive!!!!
and a special to MissM, who put up with all the lunatics in her house that weekend

okay the thing that got me about the Civil Rights Musuem was that after looking at all the exhibits
one - which had you walk on "the bus" and have the driver tell you "get up", "move to the back of the bus" etc
you wind through the musuem and finally you are standing at those two windows between rooms 306 and 307 - looking out from "the balcony" and looking into the room King used before his death
perfectly perserved . . . that took my breath away
after visiting the Civil Rights museum you go across the street and into that gate with "promised land" quote
that musuem is "search for a killer" and details all the haps and mishaps (conspiracy theories) surrounding the capture of the killer
the gotcha in that musuem is after wandering around you are looking out the bathroom window where the shot was fired across the street to the balcony
pretty powerful stuff . . . </span>Comment

Dave and Seveen I am glad you guys made it to the Civil Rights Museum. I remember exactly what I was doing the day that Dr. King was assassinated and the affect it had on me. The first time we attempted to go to the Museum the Working Ladies were still hanging in the area and it was closed.
The next time we went there was a woman who had set up a tent sort of thing across the strret from it in protest of the Museum being there I forgot what her other grievances were against it sad to say. But on this occasion my sister and daughter were with me, as you know to get the real feel of all that was going on during that time frame you have to pay attention and read all of the historical information from the pictures, to the newspapers that are on the walls. My two ladies were walking ahead of me and after a while I realized that this young Caucasian man and I were always the last two in the rooms of display, there were I recall TVs or teleprinters with information on them, that you had to manually push to get to the next page of the document, he would push the button, we would read, then I would push the button we would read, the two of us probably took two hours to go thru that Museum and soak up the information in my case; I was reliving; in his case history that he may have read at one time. Some how at a point we were holding hands as we traveled through the Museum, with tears in our eyes, two complete strangers feeling the sadness of events that happened when one was 16, a soon to be statistic, (a single mother) and one who was not born for years after the Event. When we got to the end of the tour which was the area out side the room Seveen mentioned, we embraced, told each other that we were proud to have experienced the Museum together and walked away never to see one another again in life. But it was a profound experience for me one I will never forget, because on that day I very much understood what the movement was about and it brought to mind Dr. Kings speech about his children and a white man's children holding hands in friendship.
Thank you Dave for sharing your experience with us it brought back a beautiful memory for me. Glad you guys had a wonderful time. And I have had the Famous ribs and I know they were fierce.

I don't know how I missed this report. Dave, I am from Memphis and I could only laugh at your 2 hour drive on the highway. I don't know who invented the concept of one Highway going North/South and East/West, but, I would like to properly slap the iss out of them!
They have that same stupid thing in Atlanta!
One trip home to Memphis, my brother actually came out looking for me. A 15-20 min trip took me about 2 hours!
I cant see most of the pictures because I am at work, I will check them out when I get home, I am sure they will take me down memory lane as your narrative have.
Wondering if the New Daisy Theatre is still on Beale St. that was our 50cent movie theatre growing up. I have actually not been to Beale St since it has been revived, my next trip home this is on my list!
Again thanks for the ride down memory lane!
