When we arrived we all undressed to our bathing suits. There was another group already there and another group bringing up the rear. We got into the water. I wanted to go over to the waterfall. I was going to carry the Miss over but she was scared and didn’t want to go. She said she would stay in the shallow part. I left her on a rock and told her NOT to go any further than a certain point. I swam under the water. It was cold. I was coming up from the water and I could see a look on all the faces around me. I knew it was the Mess. I turn around and a drenched Mess is being placed on the ground by this extra tall man. I’m an awful mother. I started laughing.

Not because she-in her words-drownded, but because I knew that it was the Mess as soon as I broke thru the water. Robert and I calmed her down. She had climbed up on a rock. When she tried to descend on the other side the water was deeper and she went under the water. A woman saw her and said help her and this huge tall, tall man scooped her up and carried her to shore. I had to apologize to the Mess b/c mommy wouldn't want anything to happen to her, but the chica is so accident prone. Poor baby-that week she had fallen at least 4 times and broken glasses in two restaurants. It makes me laugh b/c she so reminds me of my brother. He's about 6'2 and his feet grew before his height. I swear his feet flopped for a couple of years. Just like her always falling.

I asked her did she want to get back into the water. A firm NO. I told her to get my camera and take pics. Robert tried to help her, but I could see her arguing with him-I got this. Here are two of her pics.


The lady with the bikini top and the shorts is the lady that got the man to help her. Her and the lady were fast friends after that even though the lady almost spoke no English.

<span style="font-weight: bold"> </span> Oh my! How very scary for you and the Lil Miss! I am so glad she was okay!! Just curious, does Panama require permission (like Jamaica),from the child's father when only mom and child travel by themselves? Is a notarized statement enough?
