My sister in law is improving and might be released from hospital tomorrow or monday, and will be having a visiting nurse giving IV antibiotics and wound care also.

OK, I just made a red poodle! Someone wanted one! Well, not sure it'll be red when I pull it out of the kiln it will be interesting to see!

Hey Q.K! Good snoozing day here too! Only I am way to busy for that! I'm working on my class project, which is a copper dragonfly. When I told my smart instructor I wanted to make a dragonfly pendant of copper, soldered in the back, his answer was...&quot;it's a beautiful subject but it might be pretty difficult trying to make 4 symmetrical wings&quot;. HA! I knew I should have listened to him! Anyway, it's getting better but it's not my shining moment so far!

I guess there was either a bite from an insect, or a scratch from a new kitty on sister in law's stomach. They had just adopted 3 kitties from a filthy environment. The wound got infected and the sorevstarted to grow rapidly so they went to the doctor who promptly put her in the hospital with a staff infection, which later turned into this mrsa thing.

I just talked to her and she is getting out of the hospital on Monday, whew.

Ok&lt; back to my dragonfly!

It has ben a beautiful sunny day here. I've been cooking all day. Taking Sunday dinner to mom's tomorrow. After talking about those sweet potato's yesterday I went and bought some and have my casserole ready to pop in the oven.

Thursday Evening



I do have to say this - Maine has not had a Hurricane Watch in 17 years - yep guess what!! WandaBeHeadingAgainTowardsHurricaneTerritory!!



I start by taking the TRAM for the first time - from downtown to the airport. A new experience and it was a breeze. Instead of spending $45 for parking at airport I spent $3.50 for the tram!!



The airplanes seem to be getting smaller and smaller these days. Two seats on each side of this plane. And the man next to me did not so much as even greet me when I took my seat (he was there first) - ok - I don’t need a full blown conversation but have always thought it polite to at least say “hello” to someone you will be sitting beside the next three hours. Well, not a big deal - I’ll just put on my earphones and relax. I wanted to sleep anyway. Soon refreshments are delivered! Well “Mr. No Hello” ordered some pringles. First thing he says to me, “Would you like some pringles.” AND I was SO craving some salt. I took one! Did not want to be a piglet! He hands me over about 1/3 of the can.!! I am feeling much better about him now!!!



The flight there had a lot of turbulence. I think I am one of the few people who actually welcome that! It lulls me to sleep! Pilot says, “we anticipate a smooth ride” and I think Bummer!! I got some good turbulence on this trip - nice and relaxing for me!!!! Not sure about the other passengers though.

OK - Portland , Maine has the smallest airport I have thus far ever been to! We even had to get off via stairs onto the tarmac!! Was I surprised - and I’ll do that any day over having to sit on plane for an open gate!!! I am in MAINE !!! It’s about 10:45 P.M. local time.



I navigate to the bottom of escalator - our arranged meeting spot - no Loopsie!! No problem . . . I know she’ll be there. But WAIT! It is “Survivor” night - What if the episode was so good she forgot me!!! Nope - half a minute later - there’s Loopsie!!!



Our first adventure happens before we even leave the airport.! We get to the second floor parking - NO VEHICLE!!! Has it been stolen??? mmmmmm then I get to thinking - mebbe Loops cannot identify her “new wheels.” She did just get this vehicle. Nope - we’re just on the wrong floor!!! She was in such a hurry to come greet me - neva paid attention to where she parked. [wonderful new wheels btw]



It is 1 ½ drive from airport to my home for the next three nights. On the drive I smell my first “mud flat.” We spent the drive chatting and when we get to her house we are surprisingly still totally awake - amazingly enough - cause neither of us are “night birds.” It’s time for a chair, a beer and conversation until 1:00 AM. OK - NOW we are “night birds.” [do crows stay up late?]

Friday



I awake to the aromatic smell of coffee!! We get up early to beat this “tropical storm / hurricane Kyle” moving in!! We want to go to the BEACH! We are on the road by 9:00 a.m.!



First stop!! Popham Beach ! Guess what I see!!! My very first seal!! Well 3 actually . . . swimming not too far from the shore. Purty durn exciting!!!

Traveling on . . . we get to a fort! [Loopsie fill in the blanks for location name puh-leeze]. The walk to the top is steep and we are excited to have quite a view from the top of one of buildings. Get there - ready for stair climbing! Oh no!!! The door is blocked with massive gate. [Wanda has to try to shake it anyway] nope! I know - I’ll check the windows - we can skooch in that way - nope - iron bars. Ok - onto next viewing spot - no problem - we can adapt!

There were several large areas where the fort used to do battle!

On the walk back down the trail I have opportunity to observe the forest - it is like a magical fairy playground.

There is soft moss, green lichen on the trees, the area is misting and a light rain is also falling. Could have spent much more time there but we are just getting started and have many more places to visit!

And we have the entire location to ourselves. [Thank you rain!!!]

We backtrack to where the seals were and walk on the sandy, windy, raining shoreline!! Waves are starting to pick up and become quite beautiful. Loopsie has graciously provided to me her umbrella. I offer to share - her response “I have a hat.” I know her jeans were getting wet!! What a host!

I do not remember the order in which we saw these but . . . we saw where Loopsie was born, where she grew up and where she works.

We stopped at a FABULOUS yarn shop!!! Halcyon!! I am a “texture” person and this place was heaven to me! (seems that's what Loops said too - she described it well)

So in addition to &quot;feeling up yarn&quot; I do knit as well. Discovered a yarn I had never seen before - it was from Peru - 100% baby alpaca (chunky) most amazing SOFTEST yarn ever!! Loopsie indulged me as I said, &quot;here feel this,&quot; &quot;ooooooo touch this,&quot; &quot;wow this is an amazing color.&quot;

Somehow two skeins of that baby alpaca managed to find a way home with me. I loved that yarn so much I almost bought some knitting needles right then and there - but figured would not have time for that - we were two ladies on the go.!!!

mmmmmmmm I wonder how many miles we put on that new vehicle?

ok now, time for my excuses...

highway driving past my bedtime
an elevator with a whole FIVE floors
and i tried to watch ten more mins of Survivor before i left.

and what a bonus to being up so late at night....we got to see Usain Bolt on Letterman.
