next to this restaurante is the world-famous Floridita, one of Hemingway's hangouts. I think the Daiquiri was invented here. Now a tourist haunt with a statue of the ole man (Hemingway) in the corner of the bar. And a great house band!
always tinkering on their cars.....held together with a piece of string.... how they keep them on the road is amazing. first prize for perserverance and "necessity(sp?) is the mother of invention"...........! I was in one of these cars (Cuban taxi, supposed to be illegal for tourists, anyway....met an american musician who has been in cuba in the winter for the past 10 years, sweden in summer, left US 30 years ago or more....and he took me out in one), slammed the door shut, as you do....Don't do that!! the guy said to me. Oh yea, oops, liable to fall off!!! Also don't lean against the door, likely to fall out onto the street!!!!!!!
The Bodequita del Medio, another of Hemingway's hangouts. Great band too, another tourist hangout also. The bar man makes mojitos all day long (well, could think of worse jobs in the world.....)
the famous Malecón, the boulevard along the seashore where habanians(?) hang out and stroll along it day and night. Below the wall there is no beach, but rocks. People fish there too.
