that's the hotel inglaterra in the background. and the parque central with the statue of José Marti, the spiritual father of the revolucion. Already in the 19th Century he was declaring Cuba should be independent (from Spain). You really notice the Spanish influence there (architecture, etc). Also something I didn't know is that Cuba is 70% white, mostly of Spanish descent (and French from Haiti). There's also a community of Jamaicans there, went sometime round the 30's. Met some people of Jamaican descent there.

Cafe Sevillana, in the Hotel Inglaterra, right in the centre of town. I stayed there and had an amazing room with *cuban balcony* (i.e. crumbling!), on a little side street called Rafael, next door is the fabulous ~Teatro Nacional de la Habana`~ an amazing baroque building, so was looking out on that......(there's another pic of it).

Lovely pics (though a bit of narrative would have been great!) 
I sure would love to go to Cuba, but that have to wait until the US govt lifts the travel restrictions for its citizens.
BTW, those cigars are massive and seem fairly common!aka ChurchDude. I want that moniker back! Until then....

yea,going back and adding narrative.....
yea, everyone smokes those cigars.....(only old women tho. never saw young uns with them).
will upload some more pics in the next few days. Got loads, but not so many yet on photobucket, where I get them from.
right now in my part of town, it is 5 to midnite and bed is calling me!!!
hahaha, it is now 12.45 and still hangin out......

Yea, I love the cigars too.
Have to laugh. Cuba it's cigars, Jamaica it's joints....
Saw a postcard of an afro-cuban old guy with a guitar in his hand and a cigar in his mouth, so got it and sent it to a friend of mine here from Curacao who is 60 and a musician, plays guitar, and always has a guitar in his hand and a joint in his mouth!!!
He loved it.
Bought back a box of cigars, all individually packed in plastic holders. Great to give away as presents (even tho cigar smoking here is definately an old guy's pastime....).
Hope today to start downloading more photos on photobucket, and then onto here.....Comment
