Arrived in Zurich just after 8 a.m. local time. Interesting train ride from the gate to the exit with special sound effects. Sounds in the tunnel included yoodling (sp), cows mooing, etc. After going up and down and up and down and sideways, I finally made it to the exit where my was patiently waiting. greeted me with a beautiful

We made our way to a restaurant since check in at my hotel wasn't until noon. The view for the restaurant.

I got tired of sitting in the restaurant (actually I was exhausted) and decided to try my luck at an early check in. pulled into a gas station to program the GPS unit in the car. I looked up and noticed the price of gas per litre :shooked: Even though it's in Swiss Francs, it's still too much.

And to think I was complaining about it being 86 cents.

Of course the first thing I thought about as we drove to the hotel was the fact that I needed to drive on the Autobahn. I can't go to Europe and not fulfill my need for speed. agreed to help me fulfill that desire, then mi notice sey a standard car di man a drive. Cho. If time permitted, I would have rented another car just for the experience of driving on a highway with no speed limit. Next time.

Got to the hotel around 10 a.m. and yippee...they allowed me to check in. First things first...sleep. Well, I slept the entire day and evening away...didn't even eat dinner.

Saturday morning arrived way too soon. How could I waste an entire day sleeping....well it wasn't all wasted but still, I didn't go out. I decided I had to cram as much as possible into Saturday to make up for whatever I missed on Friday. Only issue was the rain.

I'll skip over some Saturday morning activity that I'll leave for later. We decided since the tram stops right in front of my hotel, we're going to park the car and act like the tourists that we were. We jumped on the tram without paying...very illegal and if caught, we would pay a huge fine. The mister not knowing the rules was trying to pay the driver...another illegal move in Zurich.

Luckily a kind young lady who spoke English noticed that we were foreigners (mostly me) and explained the runnings. We should have bought the tickets first at an automated booth then get on the tram. So we ended up getting a free ride into the city...two Christians stealing a free ride. By the way, that wasn't the last time.

I hadn't had breakfast and was starving. I begged him to let us get off the tram to go find food.

We walked a bit through the city and bumped into a farmers' market.

We stopped a few places but lawd, mi couldn't handle dem. I didn't understand what was on the menus and even though I'm brave with food, my stomach was resisting whatever he was describing to me. We finally decided on a restaurant cause mi wenna dead fi hungry at that point. They had only one item on the menu for lunch. Lord have mercy. Some type of dumpling and pork. Fine...dumpling I know, pork...I'll have to live with.

So that was our lunch along with a salad made of vinegar, cabbage, vinegar, noodles and vinegar. Jeezeampeace, I could not eat it.

After lunch decided to go buy tickets for the ride back. We didn't know if favor was going to be extended another time.

We didn't know how to use the ticket machine so he went to the ticket booth instead.

After purchasing the tickets, again we jumped on the wrong tram.

But I got to see a familiar restaurant...if only we had seen this before the dumpling and pork thingy.

Tram took us right back to where we got on. Still pouring...I noticed a church steeple and had to find out where it was. I thought for sure he was going to say no...he actually said it was OK for us to go find the church.

So we bought an umbrella and started walking in the direction of the steeple.

What did my eyes behold????? Mikey D's and we didn't have breakfast. Food...that I can pronounce and recognize.

$32 CHF later and we have two salads, two chicken sandwiches and two coke light. Gotta have a diet coke when you go to McDonald's.

Belly full...time to continue walking

Saw the H & M sign and got excited but it was Sunday so everything was closed...thank goodness.
