Re: A Special Engagement in Switzerland
Zurich!!
Been a couple of times....definately better in the summer, it gets hot!! They even have a swimming area on the river down by the lake.
Do I recognise Bahnhoffstrasse? The long street going to the lake from the railway station. An amazing street, only for window shopping
it's got all the Armani, Chanel etc. shops down there and full of banks and tres-expensive jewellers.
But Zurich is also the most multicultural city of Switzerland. They even have a latin festival there!!
Caliente Latin Festival, Zürich, Switzerland
01 Jul 2009 - 30 Jul 2009 Date to be confirmed
This popular Latin festival sees Zurich burst into life and song at the annual Caliente Latin Festival. Featuring a great programme of live salsa and samba bands, the streets throb with the sounds of Latin music during the days and DJs keep the parties going after hours in the city's many clubs and bars.
Website www.caliente.ch
Also went one night to the Langstrasse, the red-light district, lots of funky dominican music clubs. Even met some Gambians in one!!!
"Edgy: Langstrasse
Cutting through Zuri-West is Langstrasse, the former red-light district. Undergoing an exciting transformation, cool clubs now sit alongside biker bars and strip clubs. Come here for a melting pot of fashions, lifestyles and attitudes."
