Tulip Time

I took a ride to Holland (Michigan i.e.) for the annual Tulip Time Festival. The day was perfect for the nice 2 ½ hour ride with Mommy in tow. I LOVE tulips and have fallen more in love with them now that I’ve been to this festival. Well, actually I didn’t go to the festival (I would have found that a little too boring with the parades and stuff) but I went to a couple of tulip gardens. The one disappointment with tulips is that they don’t last too long.

Our first stop is Windmill Island. Here they have America’s only authentic working Dutch windmill called De Zwaan or The Swan. It was imported from the Netherlands and restored on Windmill Island in the 1960’s.

The variety of tulips was endless. I have never seen so much beauty in one place. Enjoy the scenery.

Guy making fudge; a hot item here in MI. Personally, I’ve never had any. Just thinking about it gives me a stomach ache.

Not sure what this plant is. I saw one growing in my backyard and thought it was a weed.

Do, tek time wid mi. Mi nuh flowas savvy; mi jus like look pan dem. Mi tell Mommy seh mi nayly pull up di &quot;weed&quot; weh roun a back but it did look suh pretty mi decide gense it.

<span style="font-weight: bold">De Zwaan. It’s about 240 years old and was one of the last ones to have left the Netherlands. Dutch law now prohibits the sale of windmills since they are now considered national monuments. </span>

Thanks SueSumba. The day was literally picture perfect. I have quite a few favorites.

Nylah my digicam is a Sony Cybershot DSC-S750. (Nuh ask mi weh alla dat mean. ) Not good at taking pics at all. Matter of fact, the sun was so strong I could barely see the LCD screen. I just pointed in the direction of the image and click.
