Well you said you have 18 days to do it in. I've done a round-the-world trip in 18 days before, so it is do-able. In that case it was Spain-Singapore-Philippines.
I find now that I prefer to stay in one place longer and see less places, than see more places but spend more time at airports and airplanes.
I don't know what kind of traveler you are, if you're off the beaten path type, or more mainstream.
Here's what I would recommend:
Fly into Bangkok. Spend 4 days there exploring this gem of a city. Get all the Thai food you can eat. Make an excursion to the 5am market (since you still jetlaged) and take a boat through the canals of old Bangkok.
Take Bangkok Airways or Thai Airway flight to Vientienne in Laos. Rent a car there and drive to Luang Prabang. One of the most amazing places in the world. Stay at 5 star hotels for 1 star price. Experience the amazing scenery as you drive. Plan 5 days.
Fly to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Visit the Angkor Wat. After spend a couple days relaxing on a houseboat on a lake who's name escapes me now. 4 days
Fly to Phuket (Thailand). Take a ferry to the Ko-Phi-Phi islands. Relax on the most beautiful beach in the world. 4 days.
Fly back to Bangkok and connect to your flight home.
