I thank you all. Yes, I started doing some post editing to see if I have "it." The first few pictures (<span style="font-weight: bold">EDIT:</span> first pic not touched up) in the slideshow were all about post editing (which reminds me I need to add a few more to that slide show). The others are in their natural state with no touching up.
With all this time I had on my hands, I decided to start getting into photography with my simple point and shoot Canon A530 5 megapixel camera. I am itching to upgrade, but funds are not rolling like that so I'm trying to do the best with what I have for now until my poor baxide can move up to the DSLR cameras.

Actually I'm stunned that the pics are getting this kind of love. I guess it is because since starting to appreciate photography, I have seen faaaaaaaaar better pics than mine and just feel that mine pale in comparison. I jut figured they were aight.
Well I thank you guys. Gives me some confidence that I have a little skill. Thinking bout entering a photo contest paying about 16 grand(10,000 British pounds) and trying my luck.
Oh, since I added the new pics, the FIRST pic with the colorful sky is NOT touched up (I'll go back to edit that up top). That is how I saw it and how my camera captured it.

Close. I was on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands where I am from. One pic was on St. John, Virgin Islands.Comment

I looked at them all a second time just now. I love all the colors and textures, but I think I love the blk / wht snow pics maybe the best and then the pics that were taken in NY, like the pic of the Brooklyn Bridge is very cool.
I've never lived in snow, but have played in it a lot in my life time, I may just have a fascination with it.
Anyway I love the snow pics!Comment

Yes, the black and white shots and many of the other NYC winter shots are quite emotive (is that the correct word?). The "feel" of the pictures evoke nice memories of Christmas time in NYC with my Grandma. Captures the spirit the city has at that time of the year.

I've lived in it a few times, but you are indeed correct, winter pics, to me, as much I hate snow, are the most calming. I even post-edited the pics to give that antique, post card, turn of the century look which to me, gives it that sense of innocence feel. Just looking at them makes me get that Christmas feeling.Comment

I've been using inexpensive cameras forever...and I just spend a lot of time seeing how the camera actually responds, and what I can do with what I got.

I want to ask Mutty, if you add more picture to this slide show, or create another slide show, can you make mention of it in this thread, so I can view the new pictures? Otherwise, I'd be searching through what I've already seen.
