Day Trip to Gettysburg, PA

<span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'"> Mr. Gungo and I, along with dog hanging out back window, went for a drive last weekend. Gettysburg is about a 1.5 hour car drive from Washington, DC, driving through Maryland's Catoctin mountains, home of Camp David. Visiting battleground sites without the hoopla and crowds is very moving to us. We've visited Antietam in Maryland where on 17 September 1862 23,000 were killed or wounded during 12 hours of battle

Anyway, on our way to Gettysburg, we stopped at a country farm store to get fresh fruit, pies, and preserves. I took a few photos using my cell phone and Mr. G's iPhone. Here's my favorite

<span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'">We stopped at the Catoctin Mountain Orchard to buy apples, peaches, plums, corn, tomatoes, preserves, and peach pies. The store smells divine. I had to sit outside to rest my foot and I snapped this with my little cheap cell phone. You can see the orchard and then the Catoctins ... Appalachian Trail goes through Catoctin National Park.

My ex was a big Civil War buff. We talked about doing a battlefield tour, never got around to it. I hope he does before he dies. I know he would be moved.
