I went on my first cruise June 2008 for my parents 40th wedding anniversary - about 45 people in our group. I would definietly go on a cruise again. It's well worth it and you will definitely have fun. I'm not sure what cruise you're going on but we were on Royal Caribbean, roundtrip from Puerto Rico. We stopped at 4 different islands and had 2 oe 3 days at sea.

The days at sea- you can choose to sit around and sun all day if you want or you can take advantage of the nonstop activities - some free and some for a cost. The days in port, do your tours on your on rather than through the ship. The cruise will be as fun as you make it and it's doubtful that you will be bored.

There was an Alaskan cruise I would love to take because you could sit and watch beautiful scenery as you passed by. JahMamma went on an arctic cruise that was really amazing. Did you see her report? As far as Caribbean type cruises? I'd be bored to death.

Thanks Miss '71 for the input - am still kinda leary about the days at sea part...not convinced I'd rather just put a bullet in my head but that is just me

what kind of onboard activities do cruise's offer? I mean all I have seen are the stereotypical shots of old ppl playing horse and stuff

I still am not sure exactly where this cruise goes - waitng on my Uncle to confirm details tomorrow. It is with Oasis by the Sea...I guess I can google them.

I am with you Nanook. One of those whale watching or iceberg watching crusies wold be tres cool but the <span style="font-weight: bold">Love Boat </span>theme looks potentially painful. I know cruises are known for their good food but that can only keep me occupied for so long

I'm going but just want some idea what I am getting myself into

Well I am just gonna concentrate on the fact that I will be visting with family

Mexico is one of those places I have <span style="font-weight: bold">ZERO</span> interest in ever seeing. And I googled Labadee - it seems like it is a leased island (Royal Carribbean) of the coast of Haiti. So obviously a serious touristy thing...not quite my style.

Oh well, the price is cheap and the goal is to have a family reunion.

My mom went on that cruise couple ys ago Nylah, only thing her ship went to Ochi not Falmout. She loved Labadee, dem say it a one a de prettiest places in Haiti, but now u say it owned by the cruise line

I've only done a 3 day cruise but I absolutely LOVED it...the 24/7 service, lots of activitied to do when you're on the boat..nuff food, most ppl i know gain about at least 5 lbs on their cruise..

good thing is if u runnin low on cash, once the cruise is paid for everything is pretty much All inclusive on the boat...if u wanna do the extra stuff an sight seeing then that will definitely cost u.

went on a 7 day one.

last day at sea mi lie out pan the top deck and get dark

it is pretty much a floating city, so whatever you can do on land you can pretty much do on the ship

casinos, gym, rock climbing etc

food everywhere. after dinner there is usually a midnight buffet, and on top of that they usually have a 24 hour spot for food

you can use the spa and get couple servics

for shore excursions, the ships will charge you way MORE than if you book thru a local spot.

Mexico-nuh do mexico suh bad man, the country has some amazing places outside the more commercialized spots.

I wouldn't send anyone to cancun regardless of the time of year, but mexico city, and other places yuh can guh for the architecture, museums. and even the one time (last time by the way) I went to cancun, I was in the town eating and hanging out with the locals, the hotel strip was so boring.

for example..Dia de los muertos is kinda creepy but interesting to see people in the graveyard with their loved ones you can also find some of "frieda kahlo" paintings there.

mi know yuh nuh have nuh time fi all a dat just throwing it out there

Thanks Gen n Bizi - I didnt factor in the additional cost part when you dock and stuff at all This is good to know

bizi, I had no idea that falmouth had a port either but that is what they said I am gonna see if I can figure where exactly it docks. When I googled Labadee Bizi, many sites were saying that royal carribbean purchase or leased the island from Haiti for their customers. I dont know when this happened but many recent trip sites are saying the same thing

Gen, I'll cut Mexico some slack It is the favorite destination of drunk University students around here, so that is why it has held no appeal for me but looking at off the beaten path places is a good idea

Hey Nylah I just did a 7 day cruise this July. We left from Port Carnavral.

We did
Bahamas, St Thomas, VI and St Marteen-French and Dutch sides.

Loved it you can do all sort of stuff, spa, rock climbing, casino, differnt times of band playing, always some contest going on, gym, basketball court, a track for running, walking.

Or just lay out on the top deck and eat and drink.

Keep in mind well on my cruise they charge $10 per day for tips from each person so it will be $70 for the 7 days. I gave my waiter and cabin helper extra.

Dinners are great and you get to dress up. We loved our waiters.

Done several cruises, they are fabulous.

Labadee is a private island, nice beach on one side, rough surf on the other. The day will basically be a bbq beach party. Music, games, dancing, drinks. There is a craft market where you can buy local wares.

There is always so much to do on a cruise, you can only be bored if you sit around and do nothing.

Okay guys, thanks so much for your input. I really had no idea what was possible on a cruise at all hence why I thought it would be painfully boring.

I read some nice traveller reports about Labadee last night Pepper so even though R.C. owns it the island looks like a nice place to visit. I saw some videos on youtube as well and the beaches are well pretty

We just reserved our spots yesterday and I am starting to look forward to this now. Never hurts to experience something you havent before
