It's funny sometime how life smiles on you.....we were lucky enough to get the gift of a weekend in Key West,Florida.....and truly enjoyed the new experience

we caught a 6AM flight outta LaGuardia last Thursday....into Miami awhile later....then this puddle jumper into Key West....

we've done the drive over the 130 miles down to key west twice...it's fun. only thing is...once you get to KW...you really don't need a car. everything is in walking distance.Comment

the rest of Thursday was pretty much a blur
.....went to the market, got our supplies, napped heavily and ran out for a quick dinner at a nearby locals bar called Hurricane Hole....we tried the conch fritters (with a nice mango-pepper dipping sauce) and broiled mahi-mahi....sorry, no pics...the camera was back in the room....

loops, we only had the couple of days, so the drive wouldn't have been time-efficient for us....but you're right... there's no need for wheels once you get there....next time we go, tho, we'll stay a lot closer to Old Town....our room was really nice, but we were always a $15-20 cab ride from the fun....Comment

oh poo...in a hotel on the edge of town eh?
first time we stayed at The Dewey House....near the southernmost point buoy. second time, i scored an awesome townhouse, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and our own pool...it was in the seaport area...right behind Pepe's restaurant.Comment

Friday morning we chilled on the balcony for awhile...sipped coffee and enjoyed the views...
and then time for the tourist thing....well, not exactly the typical tourist thing, but our version of it.....

i stayed at the Marriot down there - it was very nice - had a little pier so you could walk out into the ocean and avoid the rocky shoreComment

yeah ....the Hyatt Beach House...right at the edge of Cow Key Channel.....near to Stock Island...Comment
