yes!!! you see loads of beautiful <span style="font-style: italic">anuenue</span> in hawaii! one of the nicest things about the place, it is a wonderful place, for real.
Some mi always try reach where the locals hang out so after buying some samphi jerk chicken from a man with the dirtiest fingernails mi ever see and stop a two shwimps truck we reach this local hang out
Mi will find out but you probably right, bout dis time the plate a pepper and garlic shrimp start mek mi feel drowsy, mi nearly lay dung and sleep in the park
How would you compare Jamaica to Hawaii for visiting (excl price) -- niceness, food, entertainment, beach, coolness of people, traveling around, scenery...
yah, LOL, that's what happens there, truss me i had plenty of naps under a palm tree on many a afternoon in that park, just pure sweetness....
but actually now that i see the other pics i no think that is Kapiolani park after all.... do u member where this was? was it dung past the end of waikiki by the Honolulu Zoo?
it's so nice you got to go there. in the end i coulnd't live that far out, but i surely loved it while i was there. the hawaiian people are lovely, i spent years learning about the history & it's a very rich and beautiful culture.

I will expand on this later but let me start with niceness
Hawaii - They have the tourist game on lock, they hustle you but it is subtle and you almost happy to get hustled from the ugly shirts to the fake luas, if you are looking for authenticity..it aint here but they treat you like you expected to be treated, once you arrive people dem nice but it is a professional "put on nice". The vibes similar to Jamaica now, everything is red green and gold, reggae, and roots. It makes me really proud to see our culture so embraced.
Jamaica - the crime situation is affecting the niceness and vibes of the country to a degree that I almost feel once you land in JA your guard is up, looking out for who a try fi hustle you, try mek money off a you, to a degree you feel like a mark. But the overall Jamaican spirit and vibes once you expereince it is authentic and something to behold.
<span style="font-weight: bold">sistacaf I think the park is by the zoo. My cousin living there now for 20+ years and brother was station there for years.
Loved going by the white shrimp truck by Northshore. We eat jackfruit to our hearts content.
Wonder if them fix up the stadium where them play Pro Bowl.</span>

yep k20 u got that spot on. they are wonderfully nice to tourists..... <span style="font-style: italic">as long as yuh leave.</span> Living there is a whole nother animal behind the scenes, it takes a good year or two before any newcomer gets accepted into the local culture. they have their guards up for users who have historically migrated there, take evrything they can get from it, and leave. (especially we 'haoles') <span style="font-size: 8pt">(aka: mzungu)</span> cause they were the ones that totally destroyed the native Hawaiian culture back in historical times. - or at least they attempted to, thank god it neva work and the Hawaiian Sovereignty movement is going strong to rebuild & reintegrate native culture, customs, and language back into their daily life. But i was well informed about that when i moved there, so i wasn't surprised, and after a few years of 'local-style probation' i was good.
and they sure do LOVE reggae, they bring in top artistes, i saw more incredible shows there then anywhere else. they do these all-day events in a huge field right on the edge of the sea, sometimes 3 or 4 big name acts all on one day, loads of incredible food & music, sweet vibes, dancin in the sun, bare feet all day, & rainbows all the while..... just magical. the local artistes got this whole 'Jawaiian' thing going on.... a mix of Hawaiian and reggae music, some of it is pretty good.
but in the end, as much as i loved it while i was there, still yet i love the Caribbean more, and came back to this part of the world cause of that-
Food and entertainment - Hawaii actually have Jamaica beat on variety of food and restaurants but not quality. Fresh fruits and vegetables is easier to find and taste better in JA. Jamaica is pure entertainment without even trying, I met so many born super stars in JA just natrually gifted folks man or woman when can just perform and mek you feel good. Any other country they would be a big time star but in Jamaica such things are so common we dont value it and take pride in this. Edge - Jamaica
Beach - I would say access to beach Hawaii now beats Jamaica, some of our best beaches in JA are now part of all inclusive resorts where the average joe cannot enter. I went on every kind of beach in Hawaii from exclusive rich enclaves to other hotels and it was not an issue. I will post some public beaches and I compare it to Hellshire and you hang you head in a shame. edge Hawaii
Coolness of people - Jamaica people real, they will tell you how they feel from day one and you always know where you stand at any moment. In Hawaii as a black man and Jamaican I felt it was not an issue, the Jamaican part opened doors to conversations and dropped guards really fast as it always does. The locals were cool but I found the sense of entitlement from some of the main land americans and Japanese tourist a little too much at times. Things that would get somebody face kick off in Jamaica is just accepted, this one woman come in wearing little teddy bears all over her pants and in a skin tight jeans bout 50+ years old, so of course I am going to look, damn woman cuss mi in a Japanese and want look fight, mi could only shake mi head and laugh .
