somebody in vegas was entranced by the story/image. maybe it's a metaphor for a barren area of the us "raping" the fortunes of out of towners, or the resources (including water) of the surrounding area.

ah that's why i like to go places by myself. i'm adventurous and other people are always warning me about going out at 3 a.m by myself.

When I lived in San Diego Ca, Las Vegas was only a 5-6 hour drive, needless to say I made quite a few trips there. I did get to see Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon at the insistence of my non-gambling first husband.
I actually prefer going to Vegas alone, not because I want to be adventurous but because I want to sit with the one arm bandit without people nagging me to sight see, go eat, go to sleep etc...

i love their crepes, too. they make them in one of the restaurants in the lobby.
This is wonderful. I just love Vegas! It has been awhile since I've been, but this makes me wanna go. Last time I went I rode the roller coaster but there was a bigger one just out of town near Parumph. We used to eat our meals out that way too as they were much Less $.
My Godfather retired out there (rest his soul), so I drove out every year to visit and we usually stayed downtown as back then they were catering to "families" on the Strip, and truly, the LAST place/time I wanted to hear children, was at midnight.
Have adults reclaimed the Strip? I'm with you on buffets too. Buffet =

I know what you mean about traveling alone. I tend to have a pretty good idea of things I want to see before I travel to a certain place. Tavelling with someone else can cause you to get diverted from your plans and makes it frustrating. This happened to me to a certain extent on my last vacation and I vowed my next trip would be a solo one. Plus when you travel by yourself there are no witnesses!
I really want to do Vegas. Your report has just made me want to visit that much more.
