We slept in a little later than normal. I also needed it as my cell phone rang about 3:00 am and woke me up. It was the day that back in the USA Lebron James would decide on the team he would play for. I am a very avid basketball fan. I knew if my phone rang we (the Miami Heat) got him. I got out of bed and logged on my computer to see what the “decision” was. I was happy Lebron was coming to Miami and did not go back to sleep till an hour later.
Sleeping in late would not affect us today. We would be in Rome for a little longer than the last 2 locations. I went to the front desk to find out where the interesting sites were. We were going to do a bus tour of the interesting sites.
I got to meet Paola at the front desk (as I mentioned previously she was popular on tripadvisor.com). I learned from her that the Vatican was just a “stones throw” away. We walked to the Vatican and had breakfast at a restaurant facing one of the entrances. While at breakfast we met an American couple. The man had traveled all over the Caribbean and Africa. He mentioned that Jamaica was closest to an African country in all the Caribbean countries he visited. He said it reminded him of Ghana.
We walked along the Vatican wall to the front where there were monuments. The line to get into the Vatican was long. The buses doing tours were across the street from the Vatican. We hoped on one of buses and began out tour.
We toured quite a few sites but the one I remember the most was the Coliseum. It was an imposing building that brought back memories of the movies I had seen depicting Roman Gladiators fighting. After a full day of touring we walked back pass the Vacation to the hotel. On the way there we heard a Bob Marley song blasting from a radio of a man sitting near the walls of the Vacation. We ended the evening with dinner at Italian restaurant close by the hotel.
