Nice thoughts Ms Peaches. Not so long ago, I can remember faintly when as a tot, travelling to what were mere fishing villages, Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios.

Indeed, I have heard of certain craftsmen using what was left of a cotton tree to dig and burn out a wood canoe.

Wow! What a job!!

But either way it's a lot of work and the boats have to be built to endure the very rough seas in these parts. But well built, they last for a long time.

No, they are used mostly by the 'onshore fishery'. More modern boats are used for the offshore fishery but they don't begin to have the same charm.

coming to the Pan African festival this summer in Ghana....looking forward to it except dat di promoter or one of dem an mi not seeing eye to eye on accommodation...him keep saying everyting is prepared but will not tell mi where mi staying...di I dont do well widdout single accommodation... i never share...N E V A...my down time is MY down time

evanovitch, if you're coming to the Panafest and are having trouble with your booking agent, these may help you to take things into your own hands. Why continue dealing with unreliable ppl?! Just remember the Country Code is 233 and if you're calling a cellphone (not starting with 0302) drop the 0 at the beginning of the number, OK?
