Hey Nina!

SE Asia is definately an enchanting place. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] When Bob sings:

"There's a natural mystic flowing throught the air..."

The first places that comes to mind is JA's Blue Mountains. The second place that comes to mind is SE Asia. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

It's been about 6 years since I've been to Morocco, but I love it too. Tell me your itinerary so I can check that you're not missing some of the 'must-see' places there when you go! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif[/img]

Dont know but when you get there, you`ll find places to go for sure.

What about Madagascar the large island in the Indian Ocean where there are lots of indigineous plants and animals?
So too the other island south of mainland Australia, Tasmania where that devil lives.

Well not sure if I want to see the Devil in Tasmania, and besides I think it's too cold there for me. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] Which is strange, because it shouldn't be cold if the Devil lives there. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Madagascar has been on my list for some time as well. I was always intrigued by the name of its capital city.... Antananarivo. If you can pronouce it properly, s cold Stripe on me! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Fez- mezourga - Rissani- sijjilmassa -bouarfa- tourdra. zagora- quazate- ,telouet - Marrakesh... essouira....

mind you from all these places to remote villages.. and various kasbahs... through the atlas mountains

ok magic.. so what are some of your favorites.. i am landing in casablanca.. but skipping it...skipping Tangiers and chefchaouen in the north too... come with it.. in case i need to make some adaptations...

this is not til April.. so i got time..

For me it was Taiwan, where I was born but could not return...then we were allowed to go 3 years ago so it's "checked off"...except I'd now like to bring my children there [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Vietnam and a lot of the rest of that area is definitely on the list.

There aren't really any places I DON'T want to go, truthfully.

It is the Moroccan highlight in my mind! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] It's such a magical place. It's a very old village/town on a steep slope in the mountains. It is whitewashed with white and blue, and those colors will stick in your mind forever. The place is full of narrow streets (and by narrow I mean 1-mule-width kinda narrow) and everywhere are steps. Arched entrances to homes and shoppes are protected with heavy duty carved wooden doors circa verrrrry long time ago. Man and women in traditional attire perform the same craft on their stoops as their families probably have for thousands of years.

Nina, get up before dawn (and it will be chilly as it's high up) and wonder the steep alleys while the sun is rising out of the mist, and take a million photographs! Trues me, you wont regret it! Chefchaouen is not to be skipped! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

Fez is a wonderful place to get lost. And lost you will. It's the big momma of all the 'Souks', you'll think you woke up in 500B.C. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

magic... chefchaouen was on my itinerary at first.. was going to come into tangiers and then head north to chefchaouen... but someone told me its been found... and now many tourists go there... how long has it been since you been there.....

there are many other villages all over morocco that boast the same narrow paths.. and steps.. just maybe not that white washed and blue effect... there is a village outside of fez like that.. cant think of the name..

when were you there last.. and tell me where you went..

QK... all you got to do is pick a place.. and try it once.. something other than ja.. and you'll be bitten with the exhilartion.. the sheer joy of travelling anew.. ja is a love for us all. a constant.. but its a big world out there.... there are easy places to begin wiht not so far.... try where i went to guatemala... inexpensive .. and fantastic.. im aiming to go back

my bro and his family left for a month in Peru yesterday...and he's already seen Machu Pichu...but will see again.

Beleive it or not...they're staying so long because they all need dental work...and my SIL (she's Peruvian) says its vastly cheaper there.

It's been 7 years since I went there. So your friend could be right. Like all places, it too may have been 'discovered'. But I have fond memories of it.

I managed to find a picture, although since I don't have a scanner, I had to take a picture of that picture that's in the album, so the quality sucks. But I'll give you an idea of what it was like...

Next BIG trip anywhere but JA would have to be a long one with time spent visiting friends in California, Hawaii (Maui) and New Zealand.
My friends in LA &amp; Maui that would KILL me if I took a big trip and it wasn't to visit them. They forgive me Jamaica, but I have yet to visit them since they moved.

Well Q.K, on your way west you can rest a spell in Wisconsin if you like!

I'd love to go to Galapagos and the Arctic. Costa Rica is big on my list, and I want to see wild Australia which means absolutely no cities. I don't want to see a city anywhere so other than that, put me pretty much any place and I'll be entertained.

My next trip will be to New Mexico/Utah/Arizona and well, pretty much anywhere on the way from here to the mountains surrounding Las Vegas. I need to go pay my respects to my favorite person in the world, my God father, who lived in Vegas and has his ashes spread in those hills. The last time I was to Lake Mead the boat rentals were all closed because of high winds. I told them they didn't know anything about high winds in the desert and they ought to come see what happens on Gitchee Gummi but it was still a no go.

I loved looking at some of the photos in this thread that Magic posted of the waterfalls!
