I did not get to CWU, but if you can find a pic of the building you are talking about, that would be great. Shaker and Cleveland Heights we would do on a Summer visit when we can walk around in much warm conditions. I still have a few more pics to post, and will do so over the next couple of days.

Here are the pictures of the building I referred to earlier. It's the Weatherhead School of Business Management at Case Western Reserve University (Peter B. Lewis Building). The architect who designed this building is Frank Gehry. Isn't Frank Gehry a Toronto native (living in LA) who is also redoing a new section/front for the Art Gallery of Ontario?

These pictures are great but you really have to see this building in person and go on one of the tours where they take you throughout the classrooms. Very creative...and functional.

WOW! Thanks for posting these pics, and for sure, those are some really interesting designs. Most definitely we'll have to do the tour the next time we are in Cleveland. Regarding Frank Gehry, I am not familiar with the name, but did find this about this incredible architect.

As mentioned before, this particular weekend in October was COLD, yet there was the typical wanderer's lust that I experience when in a new place. So on Sunday morning it was time to check out a couple more city blocks to see what else we could find.

The downtown core was virtually empty, but we did find a restaurant open where we could have breakfast. If supper the night before was wonderful, breakfast was anything but. We got served by a 'waitress' who had no business waitressing, and to make matters worse, she brought my breakfast and there were no utensils!

Strangely enough, she called the restaurant owner "Dad" [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img] Maybe that explains how she can get away with such sub-par customer service. Anyways, it was back to around the shopping mall when we came across the guy below having what Islanders would call an "open-air" service! I haven't seen one of those in quite a number of years.



Understandly, with the weather being what it was, his audience was very small.

Then it was off to the "home" of basketball star Lebron James; the Quicken Loans arena.



I was hoping to pick up some items here, but it was all closed! Maybe the folks in Cleveland are the reverential type. Not very much seem to open on Sundays.

Interestingly, the major league baseball stadium - Jacob's Field - was literally 'just around the corner'. Again, I wondered about the wisdom of having an outdoor stadium right across from the lake. I shudder just thinking about a long nine-inning game if the Cleveland Indians were to make the post-season.

Then it was back to the building that had aroused my curiosity the evening prior. Of course I was intrigued to find out what it was, and as it turned out, it was a court house!





If my life depended on it, I wouldn't have guessed that. I since found out that Stokes was an American politician of the Democratic party who served as the 51st mayor of Cleveland, Ohio. He was elected on November 7, 1967, (he served until 1971) and was the first African American mayor of a major U.S. city.

We went to Cedar Point and had a really good time, on the roller coasters! I did not get to see around town like this...
