Friday the gang decided to take me out to an authentic Costa Rican lunch.

Of course I had to bump into another friend.

We all went out Friday night to celebrate the girl in the black top in the front row birthday. Chrissy joined us but she warned me not to post her pic so I won't. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

For me the best part of the trip was the Saturday morning tour to The Basílica de Nuestra Señora de los Angeles (Our Lady of the Angels Basilica). The church is open daily 6 AM to 7 PM. The basilica is also the focus of an annual pilgrimage in August to celebrate the appearance of La Negrita, or the Black Virgin, Costa Rica's patron saint. Chrissy also told me that people will walk for days to get to this church. I needed to see why.

Compry, these are so great! I'd love to see Costa Rica someday, especially after seeing your waterfall photos!!!

It's so hard to pick favorites. I especially loved the ones of inside the homes. The irons. I was just recently talking with a friend about those irons, and she was telling me about how the coal ones work. You had to be careful not to put too hot of one in! I LOVE the photo of you with your head upside down at the falls! If that made you sick for a few days I'm sorry, but you'll have the photo forever! It's beautiful! Good luck with your new adventure. This move you speak of! Is it to Costa Rica? Are you going permanent?

Thanks Nanook. I love that photo also. I can't remember who snapped it but I'm glad they did. Costa Rica is nice and I found out today that I am being sent back however I may decline. Too many things happening right now and no I'm not moving to CR. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

Great report and fantastic pictures. Compry, anywey Jamaicans dey you wi find Dutchie - a whole heap a Jamaicans went to Costa Rica and never returned and not only dat mi see Dutchie in DR and Cuba too and dem sell dem uppa whey mi live - a very "spanish neighborhood".

Thanks St. Bess. I learned that the majority of the west indians including Jamaicans in CR are located in Limon which is on the side of the Caribbean Sea.

Saturday morning came too fast but I was excited about my visit to Cartago to see the famous Our Lady of the Angels, also known as La Negrita; The Little Black One; Virgin de los Angeles. Hopefully Fortis will drop in to see this.

Jesus, our cab driver for the week told me Cartago was about 20 minutes away...after 45 minutes of driving I started to ask "are we there yet." Just kidding, it was a pleasant drive. Like I mentioned before there are mountains everywhere and living in flat Toronto, the mountains were a refreshing difference.

We arrived in Cartago and shortly after I spotted it...I knew that had to be it.



Jesus confirmed that was indeed the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles.



My first, second and third reaction was wow, wow and wow.

Jesus found parking and we went off to explore. I took a few pics outside and then entered the church. I was in awe.
