To see the images, you have to go into Settings and tell it to display images. Just figured it out.

Yay! You joined me on my trip report. Still in Napoli, I could not get enough of the architecture and alleys. Not sure of the name of this gigantic arch but you can cut through it to get to the historic Naples walk.

It was still an overcast day as I joined a group on the tour of underground Naples. There are so many layers of history in this city which is built on an old Roman city which, in turn, is built on an ancient Greek city. As they currently expand their subway system they are unearthing even more layers of an ancient city below their current one. While fascinating, I really did not enjoy exploring underground Naples. I didn't like going underground under long passages - it was damp and musty and at one point, I put a kerchief over my nose and mouth as I couldn't stand to breathe in that dankness anymore. That's me in the middle

One one day I took a small bus up treacherous mountain roads above the town of Amalfi to Ravello where I walked through Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. Oh man, these were spectacular sights! It was overcast which just added to the drama of the views of the coast. At Villa Cimbrone they had a little cafe in the gardens and I orderd a Peroni. It came with a bowl of the most delicious green olives - I love olives and I can't describe my passion for them! As it turns out I was in Southern Italy during the olive season and I have many photos to which I will get to later. So for now ... here are my walks and views around Rufolo and Cimbrone.

More views from Villa Cimbrone. Ahh, but it was almost spiritual to view the coast and the clouds hanging over
The gardens had many nooks where, as I walked around by myself, I would spend some time in meditation and then, as I felt moved, would snap a photo of where I was. This was from a bench looking up at a trellis.

Let's get right to the food and drink section of the trip report, shall we? OMG. The food was so fresh-tasting! When I ordered a full meal, it was usually seafood. The menu is usually divided into Antipasti, Pasta, Meat, Vegetables, Salad. Most evenings after a long day I just ordered soup, salad, and wine which was plenty for me. If there was time for lunch after a long morning hike , I would find a good restaurant on a terrace or sidewalk. I almost always ordered seafood - particularly if there were fishing boats nearby. I shared most of my midday meals with a friend. The pasta is generally made right there in the restaurant and it cooks in a short time. As I've said earlier, I didn't have a bad meal in Southern Italy.

In the crazy, busy, touristy town of Amalfi, we stopped at a tiny seafood restaurant for lunch. We were early arriving at 11:30 and the chef greeted us. I ordered the seafood ravioli and had to wait a little while he prepared it. He sent out this antipasti for us to enjoy as we waited - fresh tomatoes with mozzarella, a grilled version of a caprese salad. With crusty bread and some white wine, I was transported to heaven again

The waiter took a picture of Tatyana and me before our meal. I told him this was for Jamaicans.com!

One evening in Sorrento, I sat in a cafe in Piazza Tasso with my Kindle and ordered a glass of wine and an insalata nizzarda (nicoise salad?).
They brought the bill with a tiny glass of limoncello. I am not a fan of that liquor even though I love lemons. I will have to devote a whole new thread to lemons and the Amalfi Coast!Comment

I think this was one of my best meals in Sorrento. It was a simple lightly fried seafood platter and a tomato salad at a restaurant on a fishing pier at the port of Marina Grande. The seafood was fresh. Lower left on the plate next to the shrimp are fresh anchovies. Delicious!
I met some friends from Jamaica there for lunch. Later in this trip report, I'll tell you about the reunion with my high school friends ... let's just say we have not seen each other in 30 years!
After leaving the marina and walking up hills back to the town center, I captured this view of the restaurant. It is on the pier above the little red and white boat in the foreground.
