at least you didn't pass through caserta (north of naples)-rougher than naples -that deserve a separate thread

Mountains and rocks always a backdrop to the little villages along Italy's Amalfi Coast.

In every spot it seemed, the Italians would plant something. This is one of my favorite photos I took I mean, who would paint a pvc pipe pink??

I joined a group on a morning hike through villages. We took a bus ride up the mountains, hopped off, and started the trek down to the sea. This was one of my favorite walks. We walked through farms - it was olive harvesting season and this farmer didn't mind my taking his picture:



I passed olive trees laden with fruit as I headed down to the marina for lunch. I had gorgeous weather this day!

Harvesting olives along the mountainous Amalfi coast involves putting a complex system of nets under the olive trees. One person climbs up in the tree, shakes the tree so the olives will land in the nets. Sometime they cut branches down as well.

In Sorrento I woke up to olive trees and mountains I could not ask for more. Here's a view from my hotel balcony.

Back to the villages walk. On the way down to Marina della Lobra, I see the island of Capri in the backgound



You can see the ferry arriving to the island from Sorrento. I would travel to Capri the next day!
