From the marina, I took the funicular railway up the hills to the Piazetta Capri which is the hub of shopping and restaurants in center of Capri. The funicular is like a cable car on train tracks and as you are driven up, you get a magnificent view of the coast.

It wasn't time for lunch so I head up to the Gardens of Agustus. I had to pass lots of expensive shops carrying designer labels, jewelry, shoes.
I was anxious to get to the gardens and I was rewarded with beautiful views from way above Capri and lush sub-tropical vegetation. This was mid-October and the weather was wonderful - day temps were around 70s and nights around 60s.

OK. Hopefully I'm not repeating anything here... Here's the view from my hotel room in Sorrento. I stayed at the Hotel Grand Cesare Augusto. It was reasonable and the walls were very thin! I sneezed one night and the woman in the suite next door said, "God bless you!"

I enjoyed my walking tour of towns, villages, hillsides, islands, and coastlines of Italy's Amalfi Coast. After a week, it was time to say goodbye to the Coast and then hello to three days in Rome.
Rome was a whirlwind and I really needed a week to enjoy the city, I suppose. So over the three days I walked the Colosseum, the Vatican, threw three coins in the Trevi Fountain, ate the best lemon gelato
, and who knows what else! I am glad to say that I've visited the Vatican but :shrug: I don't need to see it again. St. Peter's Basilica was spectacular and the Sistene Chapel is really not that big. I don't like crowds and I guess that is why I didn't enjoy the Vatican. I decided to just take photos of objects of art that interested me. Here are a few from the Vatican
