In & Around Kingston, Ontario...

The Rock Garden took up quite a bit of time, and as mentioned before, I was hopping around the immediate part of city we were in while waiting for the Gold Medal basketball game to begin.

This Pub & Restaurant was right across the street from St. George's Presbyterian, which might explain why it was closed on a Sunday.

History of the Fort

Ever since I was a kid, the military has fascinated me. After leaving high school, I was all set to enlist as an officer in the Jamaica Defence Force, but my mom feared for my safety and I switched career paths. I still maintain a passion for it, and it was quite the thrill to be in this military town.

Fort Henry was not yet open to the public, but I was able to capture a couple of pics.

In front of the building was an interesting monument. Interesting in the sense that I've never heard of anything similar on a school compound...

GOLD Medal Game scoreboard at the end of regulation time...



Against all odds, our boys had won 5 consecutive games in the tournament, and in this their 6th and final game, they could "taste" GOLD. Four minutes of overtime to go, and three key players playing with four fouls each.

It was a tough game, with our boys down by 8 to start the fourth quarter, but spurred on by the loud support of parents and friends, they fought back for the tie. Tension was high, the noise in the gym was loud, and our nerves were "shot" \o/ Could they pull it off? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]
