thanks for showing isla mujeres.. water still looks great... have you ever been further up the coast.. towards akumal and further?? that used to be quite nice and undeveloped.. but i heard its changed and now there are tons of properties for rent....

if you love mexico.. you'll love the inland areas as well.. really is one of my most favorite places in the world.. mexico

Thank you roots....awesome....love some more..and yes..I definitely a trip back there soon. Funny how you can forget about certainly places and then when someone else visits...you remember what a good time you had there. (not like Ja that just permeates your soul)...

dont remember the graveyard... i was a teenager back then..

was in the area again in my late twenties.. but went to playa del carmen and akumal.

my favorite spots in mexico are san miguel de allende, and oaxaca... altho san cristobal de la casa is the next place i will go.. was to have been there last july.. but personal issues caused us to cancel... hope to go maybe this year... large indigenous community...

Do you remember the 'dirty little secret' about Isla?
No where on the island are you aloud to flush any TP!
Its true folks [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] They make it comfortable by using lidded paper disposals in your bathrms and take them away acouple times a day. They have a very delicate system and have been able to maintain it in this reguard. Oh well, gotta be something [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nahtalktoyuh.gif[/img]

She knows and have booked several trips for us so I trusted her on this trip as well.


We vacationed at a hotel called Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar of course we had to be on the beach. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/discosmilie.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/discosmilie.gif[/img] The whole place is beautiful, the people were the best and my Spanish automactically kicked in you couldn't tell me anything. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] The hotel is beautiful,ocean can't even describe tha feeling and the food [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blushing2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blushing2.gif[/img] my goodness everything we ate was yummy.

I have to share this story with you, I had just learned how to swim so this was a big deal for me to actually swim in the ocean. My traveling partner on many trips before me have begged me to go snorkeling but everytime I would tell her no she should just go by herself. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/helpsmilie.gif[/img] I trusted my husband so we booked a snorkeling package. This was his first time snorkeling as well so we were both excited.


Everything was going well on the boat but when it came time to put on mask and flippers I started having second thoughts. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] My husband jumped off the boat when it was my turn on those tiny steps I just knew I was going to fall and wouldn't let go. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] Do you know my husband left me [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad2.gif[/img] I finally got into the water, grabbed one of the diving instructors named Alex and told him in Spanish that he would be my husband, forget about that other guy. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70456-eyebrows.gif[/img] He was a cutie and had no other choice the way I clung to him. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I had my own tour guide and husband at the same time. My mask kept getting water inside, after he fixed that everything was good. I love fish to no end so when they would just come up to us I was so tickled I would start laughing we would have to come back at the surface so I could catch my breath. We both started getting the giggles I felt like Ariel from the The Little Mermaid. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img] He took me to see the ruins that were in the bottom of the ocean. I couldn't believe I was actually deep in, being around the fist and coral life was really awesome.


The package also included that you could see some dolphin show, my stomach started feeling funny so I told my husband that he should go I would stay on the boat. I don't know if it was from being sea sick or the ocen water that I had swallowed or the heat but after I threw up I felt much better. I got to hang with the crew and captain who showed me around the boat, both asking questions about each other's lives [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/discosmilie.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/discosmilie.gif[/img] I'll never forget that. We also took a tour to Chichen Itza the weather was perfect not too hot as others complained of. When they showed me all these 100 of steps to go up I chose to stay on the ground, I can't stand being up high. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/vomit.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] Husband went up twice we had a fun tour guide he was the best. At the hotel one of the guys was working on his car, the next thing I knew my husband had started helping him. Every morning he had some job for my husband [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] They had a good time riding the motor bikes, no problem my spirit always is always attracting someone. I have fun memories on all of my trips but Mexico is my first so she's always special to me. I've seen the Conch house on the Travel channel but to see it in person was cool. They said they had people comming off the streets and asking for a tour all the time. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] That's one way to make money, charge people for a tour inside and around your house. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/discosmilie.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/discosmilie.gif[/img] One of my favorite older movies is Against All Odds with Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward they show them in Tulum and Chichen-Itza very hot part of the movie. Oh my goodness, I was just there in February and LOVED IT!!! T

ook a side trip to Contoy Island for lunch and snorkeling and played with the resident sting ray and stayed away from the resident 5 foot baracuda! Yes, they are swimming in the wild, no one keeping them there, but the constant lunch scraps. The ray actually laps right up your legs and lets you hold her.

That island is truly a gem - food was unbelievable! I stayed at that hotel too - nice and clean! I want to go back soon.
